New Year Celebration Novel Chapter 7

Princess Without Pack by Mark Twain 7

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

What surprised me was Jade sent me a friend request.

Seeing that familiar name, I froze for a second-then rejected her.

We had anything to talk about.

But she kept trying.

The last friend request message said.

“Don’t you want to know what Ashton and his boys have been saying about you?”

My heart skipped.

That Truth or Dare scene flashed through my mind again.

I’d been replaying it over and over every night since.

I needed to know what Ashton had said to turn them all against me like that.

Accepted the request. No small talk. Jade immediately sent a string of group chat screenshots.

From the name it was clearly Ashton’s friend group.

Heart pounding I opened them.

At first he was just complaining about work being tough.

Then people started teasing him-because of long-distance, his girlfriend wasn’t around.

After that it was like a dam broke. He started venting about me.

Why’d I move back home.

Why couldn’t I come take care of him, cook his meals, be there for him.

The other guys went from joking around to actually agreeing with him.

Then Jade showed up in the chat.

To get her out of answering a truth, he casually offered up my secrets instead.

From then on, they treated it as a rule of the game.

My hobbies, my personal life, even more intimate things-Ashton used them to spread gossip.

Reading through the chats, I sat there stunned, unable to breathe.

Jade sent another message.

“He wants to dump me and get back with you.”

“No way. I’ll make sure you don’t get off easy.”

I closed the app and didn’t reply.

I couldn’t even name what I felt.

Disgust? Heartbreak? Sadness?

Eventually it all turned into revulsion toward Ashton.

I started to feel dazed, realizing I didn’t even know when he’d gone rotten:

Spreading someone’s private business like it was nothing.

Letting people twist it into lies.

Compared to that the cheating almost seemed minor.

I didn’t know if it was his nature or if something changed him.

By the time I finally understood it, the last shred of feeling I had for him had burned to ashes.

Part of me even felt relieved-at least I found out before marriage.

I pulled him out of my blacklist, hit delete, and wiped him completely from my phone.

Gone, No trace. No connection. No more Ashton Reed in my life.
