The moment Autumn saw what was on the screen, she went completely still, like someone had hit her with a bolt of lightning.

The account that messaged Tyler turned out to be her old private account, the one where she used to write about her secret crush years ago. She hadn’t logged into it since getting married.

She tried to explain. “That account is mine, but I haven’t used it in-”

Vanessa cut her off impatiently. “Autumn, just stop lying already. You went after your own brother-in-law, so what wouldn’t you do?

“If I hadn’t seen what you wrote on that account, I never would’ve known you’ve had a crush on Zachary for ten years. No wonder you were willing to cut ties with all of us just to marry him.”

Zachary’s whole body went rigid. It finally clicked. Three years ago, when Autumn married him without hesitation, it wasn’t to preserve the relationship between their families. It was because she had feelings for him.

Something strange stirred in his chest, and he found himself wanting to move closer to her, but Kristen grabbed his arm and held him back.

“Zachary, you always wanted to know why I left you and went abroad, right? Well, today I’m gonna tell you. It’s because I found out Autumn had feelings for you.

“I just wanted to go away and clear my head for a bit, but then you got into that accident. I didn’t know how to deal with any of it, so I broke up with you and ran away.”

Kristen’s voice grew more emotional as she spoke. “Zachary, I really regret it. I love you and I can’t live without you. Can you please give me another chance? I swear, without you, I just can’t

go on.”

Zachary’s chest heaved as regret and heartbreak filled his eyes, and he finally pulled Kristen into his arms.

Autumn watched them hold each other and realized there was no point in trying to explain anything anymore. She turned and left quietly without looking back.

She didn’t know how much time had passed when the bedroom door suddenly opened.

Zachary walked in and saw Autumn lying silently on the bed. He realized he’d lost control earlier and quickly tried to explain himself.

Chapter 4 Autumn’s Private Account

:.

“Autumn, don’t overthink this. Kristen’s pregnant and she can’t get too worked up, that’s the only reason I didn’t push her away. Plus, you really did mess up with the whole Tyler thing, so once I deal with that, we won’t owe her anything anymore.”

He leaned down to touch her face. “Does it still hurt? Let me put some medicine on it.”

Autumn turned her head away. “Don’t bother, it doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Zachary’s hand froze in mid-air. After a long moment, he slowly pulled it back and let out a quict sigh.

The next morning, right after Autumn finished getting ready, Zachary suggested they go back to the Reeves Villa together. “Today’s Kristen’s birthday. If we don’t show up, people are gonna talk. Plus, you haven’t been home in a while anyway, so it’s a good chance to visit.”

Autumn’s lips twitched into something that wasn’t quite a smile, but she didn’t say anything.

When the two of them walked into the party together, the atmosphere in the ballroom got weird. Autumn knew it was because of her.

Most of the guests at the birthday party were Kristen’s friends, and in their eyes, Kristen and Zachary were the perfect match. She was just the shameless homewrecker who tore them apart, so of course they looked down on her.

But Autumn didn’t care, and she wasn’t interested in dealing with any of them.

She hung back in the corner by herself and watched Zachary shield Kristen from every toast, watched him clasp a multi-million dollar pink diamond necklace around her neck, watched him gaze at her so tenderly while she made a wish.

The whole scene played out like some perfect fairy tale until a sudden shout shattered the

moment.

“Kristen, you bitch! Go to hell!”
