It wasn’t that I didn’t want a mate. It was just… four And the biggest playboys on the entire Lycandra. ‘Way to make me feel secure after brutally making sure I didn’t ever in my life,‘ moon goddess.

Was this the Goddess’s idea of a joke?

Then there was Ethan.

For years, I thought he was my future. But now, he was with my friend, and somehow, I wasn’t as devastated as I expected to be only after a couple of hours. Maybe I had been more in love with the idea of us than the actual reality. Still, the sting of rejection lingered, and deep down, I couldn’t

shake the fear-

What if the Caine brothers changed their minds?

What if I wasn’t enough?

I barely had anything to my name. I was the scholarship kid, the girl with no pack name, no rank,

and no money. I wasn’t born for this world–not in the way they were. What if they saw that

eventually? What if they left me, too?

“Are you even listening to me?”

Lila’s voice snapped me back to reality.

We were in the kitchen now, sleek stainless steel appliances and granite countertops surrounding

“Sorry, Lil,” I muttered, yanking open the fridge and grabbing a wrapped lasagna. “Just… a lot on my

mind.”

She perched on a stool, watching me too closely.

“You know you can tell me anything, right?” Her voice softened. “You’re family. You were always my sister, even before you were mated to my brothers. And trust me, whatever you say stays between us. Sisters before misters, always.”

I chuckled despite myself, setting the food down.

“Thanks, Lil. I just-“I sighed, warming the plates in the oven. “I feel like I’m drowning in all of this. The academy’s already buzzing with rumours, and can feel the she–wolves glaring daggers at me. Everyone acts like I hit the jackpot, but what if I’m not good enough for them? What if they regret being mated to me?”

Lila frowned, setting her fork down.

“Rhea, stop. You’re spiralling.”

“No, listen, “I pressed on. “I’m not rich, or powerful, or… whatever they expect a Luna to be. I’m just

the scholarship kid whose parents left her in the woods. What if–what if they decide I’m not enough? And then there’s Ethan-”

“Oh, for **Goddess’s sake**!” Lila interrupted, smacking me on the head.

“What the-!”

“Shut up and listen, Rhea Morgan, because I’m only saying this once.”

She jabbed a finger at me, her eyes blazing.

Clar

“You are not a nobody. You don’t need money, jewels, or Goddess–tier powers to deserve my brothers. If anything, they’re the lucky ones. They should worship the ground you walk on for even looking their way.”

“Lila, I-”

“No, let me finish,” she snapped. “Yes, they’ve made mistakes, but I swear on the Moon Goddess herself, they’d never hurt you. Anyone with eyes can see how they look at you–like you hung the stars in the damn sky. So, take your time, make them work for it, but stop doubting yourself. You deserve this, Rhea. You deserve them.”

I stared at her, tears threatening to spill.

Before I could stop myself, I launched at her, hugging her so tightly that we both tumbled off the

stools onto the floor.

“No wonder Theo’s head over heels for you,“* I mumbled, pulling her back up.

“Obviously,” she said, flipping her hair dramatically.

“And for the record, who cares if they find out about Ethan? It’s not like they’re saints. They’ll just have to get over it.” I said

And that was when everything went to hell.

Seth’s POV:

The second her scent hit the air, I knew exactly where she was.

The kitchen.

I smirked, stretching lazily against the doorway, arms crossed, as I watched her and Lila huddled over their plates like two troublemakers plotting something devious.

Rhea looked too comfortable, too relaxed–like she wasn’t in the middle of the f*****g lion’s den. And that was exactly how I wanted my snowflake to feel all the time because this was her home. We were her home.

And Lila?

She had that little sister grin that meant she was stirring s**t.

I knew that look well.

I stepped forward, slow and deliberate, making my presence known.

Lila noticed me first. She froze, eyes darting to the doorway just as Jaxon, Callum, and Rory stepped in behind me.

But Rhea?

She kept talking.

“…who cares if they find out about Ethan? It’s not like they’re saints. They’ll just have to get over it.”

The second his name left her lips, the energy in the room snapped. A low, guttural growl rumbled through my chest before I even realized it.

I wasn’t the only one.

The room vibrated with dominance, the air growing thick and oppressive, charged with something raw. Rhea went rigid, her spoon clattering against her plate as her wide blue eyes flicked up to meet mine.

Oh, snowflake.

You just f****d up.

Jaxon stepped forward, slow and controlled, as a predator sizes up its prey. His usually cocky smirk was gone, replaced with something far more lethal.

“Who. Is. Ethan?” Callum’s voice was pure ice, cold and cutting, leaving no room for lies.

Lila palmed her forehead, looking anywhere but at us. “Good luck, sis,” she muttered, slipping behind Rhea like the little traitor she was.

Jaxon didn’t take his eyes off her, his gaze burning molten hot and filled with something dangerous.

“Did he touch you?”

The way he asked it–his voice low and lethal, possessive and dark–sent a shiver down my spine. That was f*****g saying something.

And I didn’t even want to know what it did to Rhea.

Rory, usually the first to crack a joke, was dead silent, his jaw tight, his fists clenched so hard his knuckles turned white.
