Married at First Sight Chapter 48

Chapter 48
Suddenly, Zachary recalled the video that Nana had sent him. In it, Serenity appeared stunning as she concentrated on her craft-making.
Despite his attempts to deny it, Zachary found himself rewatching the video repeatedly. He was completely mesmerized by the allure of a confident woman immersed in her work. It was truly captivating.
They say that the most beautiful women are those who radiate confidence.
And all that he could see in Serenity was pure confidence.
She was undeniably a strong and independent woman.
“I‘ve never known and will never know what jealousy is… Oh, are you awake?”
Zachary was taken aback by Serenity’s unexpected appearance in the living room as she stepped in from the balcony.
Meanwhile, Callum, still on the line, stated, “I’m about to head to bed, but I wanted to give you a call before I turn in for the night.”
Zachary ended the call abruptly. Callum, left speechless, could only respond with, “…”
“I must have dozed off on the swing. Your voice woke me up,” Serenity said, rubbing her eyes.
With a slight wince, Zachary gently chided her, “The night breeze…”

“It can be quite chilly. Make sure you don’t catch a cold,” he advised.
“Thanks for your concern,” she replied.
Serenity yawned, “I’m heading to bed now, Mr. York.”
There was little discussion about the events of the night.
Zachary silently watched her walk away to her room, lost in thought.
He wondered if she had overheard his conversation with Callum and, if so, how much she had actually caught.
Sighing, Zachary realized that with a wife now sharing his space, his sense of privacy had vanished.

The next morning at breakfast, he discovered just how much Serenity had listened. On the table lay a dictionary with a page marked at the letter J.
Their breakfast consisted of avocado toast, with generous servings for both. A side salad accompanied their meal as well.
Serenity retrieved a bottle of dressing from the fridge, adding it to her toast and salad. She pushed the bottle toward Zachary. “Want some? It’ll enhance the flavor of your food.”
“No, thank you,” Zachary declined.
She capped the dressing and set it aside, then picked up a sheet of paper. “I love to read while I eat.”
Zachary remained silent.
“I printed out the ‘Word of the Day.’ Take a look; it’s intriguing.”
Before he could respond, Serenity thrust the paper in front of him.
“Check it out,” she insisted.
Zachary glanced down, and to his surprise, the word of the day was “jealousy.”
“What do you think?” she asked eagerly.
“Interesting,” he replied, a bit caught off guard.
“Now that you’ve seen the word, don’t go around claiming you don’t know its meaning. People might think you’re mentally challenged.” Zachary was left speechless.
