Married at First Sight Chapter 42

Chapter 42
Grandma May proudly showcased Serenity’s stunning copper wire crafts throughout her home. These beautiful, lifelike creations were not of significant monetary value, but they held immense sentimental worth as gifts from her beloved granddaughter-in-law.
Whenever guests visited and admired the unique pieces, Grandma May seized the opportunity to promote Serenity’s online store, hoping to boost her business sales. “Have some water, Grandma May,” Jasmine offered as she poured her a refreshing glass.
“Thank you, Jas. It’s lovely to see you here too.”
Jasmine sighed, expressing her frustration, “My mom keeps pushing me to get married. I came to the shop for some peace and quiet, but she won’t stop setting me up with guys as if I’m some unsellable product. Tonight, I’ve got a blind date at XX Coffee House, and I’m desperately hoping Serenity will come along.”
With a twinkle in her eye, Grandma May smiled warmly, “I can understand your mom’s perspective. It seems my other grandsons have no intention of settling down either. I can’t even get them to agree to a date.”
“Serenity, why don’t you accompany Jasmine tonight?” Grandma May suggested.
Serenity was taken aback, astonished that her Nana was urging her to join Jasmine on her date.
“You and Jas are best friends. You could support her and help determine if the guy is a good match. You have experience with this,” Grandma May added.
Jasmine eagerly nodded, “Nana is the best! Please come with me, Seren. Well, if you can convince my mom to stop setting me up on blind dates, I’d understand if you don’t want to go.”
With Grandma May backing her up, Serenity realized she had little choice but to relent for the sake of harmony. “Alright, just this once.”

“…and that’s it,” Jasmine concluded, beaming with satisfaction.

“Yay! You’re the best!” replied Serenity, excitement evident in her voice.

With a smile, Jasmine said, “Grandma May, I’ll leave you and Seren to chat. I need to shop for some stuff.” This left Serenity and Grandma May with some quality nana and granddaughter-in-law time.

Once Jasmine had stepped out, Grandma May pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to Serenity.

“What’s this, Nana? Did you write me a love letter?” Serenity teased, intrigued.

Grandma May chuckled, “Cheeky girl! These are some of Zack’s habits and hobbies. Take a look. This list should help you two get along better. Seren, even though you and Zack entered this marriage without love, those feelings can be cultivated. Tear down your defensive walls and really get to know one another. I believe you’ll soon discover a mutual attraction.”

Serenity unfolded the paper, reflecting on the contract Zachary had made her sign. The thought of their impending divorce in just six months made her hesitant about investing time in bonding with him.

She had always been open with Zachary, yet he seemed to keep his distance, despite her kindness. “Zack is a bit grumpy when he wakes up and has a tendency to be obsessive about cleanliness. But overall, he’s a pretty good guy,” she noted. Grandma May had hopes that Serenity and Zachary would eventually fall for each other and grow old together.

Serenity was taken aback. “He’s a grump in the morning?”

“Absolutely! Unless his body clock wakes him up, he’ll unleash fury on anyone who dares disturb him from his sleep. Even I wouldn’t risk waking him up,” Grandma May replied with a grin.

Serenity recalled how she had called Zachary in the mornings before and had to coax him out of bed, but she didn’t remember him ever being angry. Was Grandma May telling the truth? Perhaps Zachary was managing his temper well since they had just tied the knot. “Seren, did you…?”

“Last night, you…” Nana said with a blink, prompting Serenity to catch on. With a blush creeping across her face, Serenity responded, “Nana, I’m a girl. You can’t really expect me to just leap at a man.” And not just any man, but Zachary, to be precise.
