Chapter 311
Liberty bit her lips, determined not to shed another tear.
She had already cried for Hank.
Liberty refused to waste any more tears on him.
Her tears would not earn his affection, so why should she cry?
“I’m okay.”
With a brave face, Liberty slid the documents back into the envelope, declaring, “I’m over it. It’s not like this is the first time I’m discovering his infidelity.”
“Seren.”
Liberty passed the envelope to her sister. “Please keep this evidence safe for me. If Hank finds it at home, he might try to transfer the assets, and that would not be good for me.”
“Okay.”
Serenity took hold of the envelope.
Liberty continued calmly, “I’ll pretend I don’t know anything until I secure the job you mentioned. I’ll fight for what’s rightfully mine. There’s no way I’m letting them take it!”
Although she had stopped working after getting married, she had sacrificed a lot for the family. Hank’s income was a joint asset after their marriage, and she was determined to fight tooth and nail for his savings and to get under his skin!
Liberty also covered the renovation costs for their home.
She expected Hank to reimburse her for the renovations.
“Liberty, I’ve got your back!”
Serenity grasped her sister’s hands. “You can count on me, Liberty. Just keep fighting!”
“Seren.”
Liberty embraced her sister.
Their parents had passed away when Liberty was fifteen, leaving the sisters to rely on each other, and they had come a long way since then.
Liberty refused to be defeated by a cheating jerk like Hank.
Ring, ring, ring…
Suddenly, Liberty’s phone rang. Releasing her sister, she checked the caller ID. It was Hank.
After a
After a brief silence, she answered the call.
“Where are you, Liberty?”
Hank confronted her immediately. “You’re not home all the time. My mom and sister are there but can’t get through the front door.”
Liberty replied coldly, “Didn’t you give your mother a set of keys?”
Since the in-laws had the keys to the house, they could come and go as they pleased without any prior notice.
To them, the house belonged to Hank, which justified their unrestricted access.
While Hank’s name was the only one on the title deed and the property was indeed his due to the prenuptial agreement, Liberty contributed to all the renovations and felt entitled to a share of the house.
She would rather destroy the home furnishings than allow Hank to benefit from them if he didn’t reimburse her for the renovations during their divorce.
“My mom forgot to take the keys with her. Where are you now? Go home. Don’t keep my mom waiting. On your way back, stop by the market and see if you can find live shrimp and crabs. Buy a few pounds and cook them for my mom and sister tonight.”
Seafood was his sister’s favorite food.
Liberty replied weakly, “Wire me the money, and I’ll buy the seafood.”
There was seafood at home, as her sister often gave her plenty.
However, Liberty didn’t want to waste it on her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
“How much can a few pounds of shrimp cost? I’ve been financially supporting you since we got married. Yet, you want me to wire money for some shrimp? Tell me, Liberty, what else can you do besides eat? If you don’t have the money, ask your sister for it. I don’t have any.”
