Chapter 291

Liberty expressed her gratitude, saying, “Seren, Zachary is a good man. You were right about him. He is always by your side during tough times, and he spares no resources or effort to help us. Be a good wife to him.”

Serenity responded, “I will, Liberty.”

Her sister would be upset if Serenity revealed that her marriage to Zachary was only for six months, and that they were merely a couple in name.

For now, Serenity decided to keep that information to herself. “Don’t lose faith in Zachary because of my marriage. Although he doesn’t say much, he prefers action over words.”

“I won’t.”

Liberty worried that her own marriage might negatively influence her sister’s mindset and relationship. In Liberty’s eyes, Zachary was a wonderful man.

He treated her sister well.

However, the future remained uncertain. Hank had once treated her well, too.

Meanwhile, Zachary arrived at the office and was about to ask his secretary to summon Josh when Josh knocked and entered the room.

“Boss, here is the proof you requested.”

Josh stepped closer and placed a large envelope in front of Zachary. Taking a seat, he added, “Everything is in there. Hank’s lover is his secretary, Jessica Yates.”

Zachary took the envelope and pulled out the contents. The evidence showed that Jessica had left Hank hanging; they had not yet spent a night in a hotel together. The photographs only depicted them shopping, dining, and making out.

Included were Jessica’s personal details and evidence of Hank’s spending on her.

The Buchams’ information network certainly had extensive reach. There were photos of gifts, complete with price tags and timestamps of the purchases Hank made for Jessica. After reviewing the file, Zachary scowled and remarked, “Hank gave his wife three thousand bucks a month.”

He was initially responsible for living expenses, and that was before suggesting they split costs. Now, he only contributes fifteen hundred dollars toward their living expenses. “Yet, the least expensive pair of earrings he bought for Jessica cost several thousand dollars. He only takes her to fine dining restaurants too.”

Zachary recalled the day he married Serenity. She had asked if they should cover their own living expenses, but he declined, stating that he would financially support her as they were now married.

It seemed Hank must have suggested splitting costs with Liberty back then.

Josh remarked, “Since Hank is no longer faithful, he won’t spend money on your sister-in-law. He’ll do whatever it takes to please his lover.”

This was a common behavior among unfaithful men: they were stingy with their wives but lavish with their mistresses.

That’s why many women should treat themselves after marriage. There’s little point in saving money for their husbands when those husbands might just spend it on someone else.

A wife would cut back on expenses for her family, believing it was her husband’s hard-earned money, all while remaining oblivious to his lavish spending on his mistress.

With this in mind, Zachary frowned and fell silent.

Josh got up to pour himself a glass of water. After drinking half, he turned to his best friend and asked, “What does your sister-in-law plan to do? Let me know if you need help. For Serenity’s sake, I won’t allow her to be at a disadvantage.”

“Why don’t you reveal your true identity? It would make things easier,” Zachary said nothing for a moment before responding, “I have a six-month agreement with her.”

Ultimately, it was clear that Zachary wasn’t that invested in Serenity.

It had been less than two months since their wedding, and he would be lying if he claimed otherwise.

Deeply in love with Serenity. “Serenity and her sister don’t hold back; they refuse to compromise. My sister-in-law will seek a divorce. All she needs now is employment. Once she has a job and a steady income, she can fight for custody of her son.”
