Married at First Sight Chapter 279

Chapter 279
Zachary picked up the maneki-neko again as his wife remarked, “I made your maneki-neko larger than the one I gave Ms. Stone. I put a lot of effort into it. What do you think? Doesn’t it look lifelike?”
The fact that his was bigger than Ms. Stone’s made Zachary feel pleased. However, he kept his expression neutral and simply hummed softly, “Yes.”
Serenity beamed. “I’m glad you like it.”
She placed her car keys on the coffee table and turned to head into the kitchen. “I’m making pasta for dinner. Would you like some?” She quickly answered her own question before Zachary could respond, “Oh, I forgot. You don’t usually eat dinner because it adds weight.”
Zachary thought to himself, ‘What more can I say? You’ve covered it all.’
Nonetheless, he wasn’t feeling hungry.
In the kitchen, Serenity was boiling pasta. Zachary stood by the kitchen door for a moment, watching her slice onions and basil—her two favorite pasta ingredients. She also cooked an egg and some bacon bits.
She had mentioned that she enjoyed a bit of grease in her food.
Just then, Serenity’s phone rang. She paused her cooking and murmured, “Who could be calling me at this hour?”
As soon as Serenity saw that the caller was Shawn, her brows knitted together, and she answered the call. Zachary overheard her saying, “What’s the matter, Shawn?”
It was a call from Shawn!
Zachary immediately perked up, listening intently.
“Serenity, is your brother-in-law named Hank Brown?”
Shawn only realized why Hank’s name sounded familiar once he got home. It appeared to be the name of Serenity’s brother-in-law.
He immediately called Serenity to confirm this possibility. Of course, he…

his hidden agenda. This was a reason for Serenity to feel thankful toward him.

“That’s my brother-in-law’s name. What’s the issue? Do you know him?”

At this point, Zachary could sense where the conversation was heading. Without interrupting their phone call, he quietly slipped away to his bedroom and dialed Josh. When Josh answered, Zachary asked in a low voice, “Josh, have you uncovered anything regarding the investigation into Hank’s affair?”

“Yeah, I have. I was planning to bring the report and photographs to you tomorrow. Hank is definitely looking to cheat on Liberty, but he and his lover haven’t gotten physical yet. It’s more like they’re dating without any sexual involvement.”

“Besides a few pieces of jewelry, Hank hasn’t given his lover a house or a car. My team managed to take photos of them together; there are some intimate shots of them kissing and hugging, but nothing beyond that.”

Josh noted that the secretary, Jessica, was quite flirtatious and knew how to handle men. She wasn’t rushing to be with Hank, teasing him instead by playing hard to get. This was a common flaw in human nature; people often desired what they couldn’t easily obtain.

“Hank is very stingy with his wife but lavish with his lover, Jessica Yates. He frequently takes her out for dinner at the Wiltspoon Hotel, which makes it easier for me to track their expenses there.”

The Wiltspoon Hotel was owned by York Corporation and managed by Kevin, who always maintained a friendly demeanor. Kevin had previously met Hank.

“Why did you call me so late at night to ask about this? Did your sister-in-law discover her husband’s infidelity?”

“Not yet, but someone beat me to the punch and took the credit.”

Josh responded, “Who would do something like that? Tell me, Zachary. I’ll make sure they learn a lesson about the consequences of their actions.”

“Stepping on your toes,” he said, eager to join in on the gossip. “Let me guess: was it your love rival?” Josh wasn’t foolish; in fact, he was quick to understand.
