Married at First Sight Chapter 222

Chapter 222
“Could Josh be right? Am I really feeling jealous? How can that be?” Zachary pondered as he sat down in the black swivel chair and pulled out his phone again. He lost himself in thought for a long time before deciding to set aside his pride and respond to Serenity’s message. When he opened WhatsApp, he realized he had deleted her from his contacts. Fortunately, he still remembered her phone number. After a few more moments of contemplation, he finally gathered the courage to call her. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is not available.” Zachary was taken aback. ‘Did Serenity turn off her phone? Or did she block me?’ He quickly picked up the landline to call her. It rang, but he hung up before she could answer. He was now convinced that she had blocked his cell number. Zachary, who had put his ego aside to try and repair his relationship with his wife, found himself back at square one after Serenity blocked him. ‘I deleted her first, and she blocked me in return. Fine, we’re even. Let’s leave it at that.’
Zachary didn’t attempt to contact Serenity again. He stood up, walked out of the office, and left the building, flanked by his bodyguards. He headed to Wiltspoon Hotel for dinner. Meanwhile, the young lady who went on a shopping spree to alleviate her anger visited a jewelry store, spending tens of thousands before her fury subsided. Back at the bookstore, Liberty had returned from job hunting. From her expression, Serenity could tell that today had not been successful either. Not wanting her sister to see the expensive items she had purchased, Serenity left them in the car. Jasmine, who was also not very talkative, refrained from mentioning the misunderstanding between the young couple and the resulting cold war without Serenity’s consent. When Liberty saw her sister getting out of the car with her son but noticed that her brother-in-law was nowhere to be found, she felt a sense of unease.

“Where is she?” Liberty asked casually. “I thought you were picking up Zachary for lunch.” “I went to his office, but he’s not available this afternoon. He’s having lunch with a client,” Serenity replied, lying. Liberty didn’t suspect anything at all. After their meal, Liberty took a short break in the store before continuing her job search in the afternoon. Serenity, who had spent tens of thousands of Zachary’s money, felt calmer.

She remembered that when she obtained the marriage license, she was merely looking for someone to live with. The couple didn’t love each other, so why should she care about his opinions? As long as he didn’t file for divorce, they could coexist without interfering in each other’s lives. Coming to that realization improved Serenity’s mood, allowing her to continue working on her crafts.

In the evening, after Liberty had dinner at the store with Sonny, she politely declined Serenity’s offer to see her off and took a ride home on her own. Jasmine needed to go out that evening, so Serenity stayed to watch the store. Since Liberty insisted on not being escorted, Serenity called a taxi for her sister and watched as the mother and son got into the car. Afterward, she returned to the store to keep watch.

At eleven that night, she closed the shop as usual and drove home. Just as she left the entrance of Wiltspoon School and entered the main road, she nearly collided with a Land Rover. The surprise forced her to slam on the brakes to avoid an accident. Once the Land Rover passed, she continued driving. This incident was witnessed by Zachary, who was trailing behind in his car. He recognized Serenity’s vehicle, a Rolls-Royce that he had purchased for her. With a good memory, he could easily identify his wife’s car but chose to remain silent and simply instructed the driver.

The driver was instructed, “Slow down. Don’t overtake the car ahead.” Although the driver was unaware of the reason, Jim understood. He gently explained, “The car in front belongs to my wife.”
