Married at First Sight Chapter 207

Chapter 207
Zachary had yet to respond, prompting Serenity to tell her sister, “He’s probably enjoying time with his friends since he hasn’t replied to my message.” Liberty replied, “You don’t need to come here tomorrow. Spend some quality time with Zachary instead.” Having experienced a failed marriage herself, Liberty wished for her sister’s marriage to be happier and more enduring than her own. She approved of Zachary as her brother-in-law because he treated Serenity with genuine kindness and was far more generous than Hank. Even after knowing Hank for many years, Liberty remembered how he hesitated to buy her a scooter despite having sufficient savings. It was Serenity who ended up buying her an e-bike. “Alright,” Serenity agreed. “By the way, are the Hunts still causing you trouble?” Liberty inquired about her money-hungry relatives. “I wonder what’s going on with them. Grandmom has probably had her surgery by now.” “The last time they visited, they wanted to reconcile but haven’t come back since. They’re likely too embarrassed. Plus, that trending story has been overshadowed by newer ones, so its impact on them has diminished. That’s why they probably won’t return.” Unbeknownst to Serenity, Zachary had actually resolved the issue for her. She mistakenly thought that her relatives were too ashamed to seek her out again. Liberty felt a sense of relief. Later that evening, after dinner, Liberty encouraged her sister to go home. Jasmine, reluctant to face her mother’s disappointed expression, decided to accompany Serenity to Brynfield and visit her apartment instead. “Serenity, your apartment is so spacious and bright! I really love your balcony; it’s perfect for sitting on the swing, reading a book, and enjoying the flowers. How relaxing! If you add a small coffee table in front of the swing, you can enjoy tea too. It would be even cozier!” Serenity smiled. “That’s a fantastic idea! I’ll buy a small coffee table tomorrow and place it…

“I bought some of these flowers, and Zachary got the rest. I’m not sure which florist he visited, but their flowers are healthy, beautiful, and large.” Serenity was genuinely pleased with Zachary’s choices. “Mr. York purchased these flowers? They’re stunning! Could you ask him where he bought them? I’d like to buy a dozen pots to put on my second-story balcony at home.” Serenity agreed. The two girls chatted for quite a while, and Jasmine didn’t leave until after nine o’clock in the evening.

Once Jasmine had left, Serenity settled onto the sofa to watch TV. Although she had lived in this apartment for some time, she rarely turned on the television. Since she didn’t typically watch shows, she was unsure which channel to select. After a moment, she simply switched it off and began scrolling through news, trending stories, and videos on her phone. Time flew by, and before she knew it, it was already eleven at night. Serenity headed to her room to take a bath.

When she emerged from the bathroom, she heard a knock at the apartment door. Did Zachary forget his key again? Or was he drunk once more? Serenity answered the door and found Jim standing there, supporting Zachary. His face was flushed, and he reeked of alcohol. Instantly, Serenity recognized that Zachary was intoxicated. “Um… I’m the designated driver. Your husband is drunk again, so I brought him back,” Jim explained. Serenity smiled. “Oh, it’s you again! Thanks for bringing my husband home.” She reached out to help Zachary, but he swatted her hand away and pushed Jim aside, his expression cold as he walked past her.

Serenity, having a good temperament, didn’t react angrily. She thanked Jim once more before closing and locking the door. When she turned around, she found Zachary sitting on the sofa, emanating a chill and appearing visibly upset. Who had angered him? Serenity paused for a moment before she…

I approached him and inquired, “Why did you drink again? How much did you consume?” He replied, “That’s none of your business!”
