Chapter 1693
Tim wore a stern expression and remained silent.
Lilian entered a pavilion and took a seat beneath its shelter.
Tim naturally followed her inside.
“Please have someone bring tea and snacks. Mr. Callum will arrive later to entertain our guests,” she instructed.
Tim pulled out his mobile phone, made an internal call, and requested tea, snacks, and some fruit to be brought in.
He also included Lilian’s favorite snacks in the order.
Since becoming pregnant, Lilian had a constant craving for snacks whenever she was awake. Although she could manage three meals a day, she often consumed more than that. Despite her appetite, she remained slim, as the nutrition was primarily absorbed by the baby, who was not gaining excess weight.
About ten minutes later,
Callum entered the gazebo accompanied by the butler.
The butler announced, “Mr. Callum, Dr. Carden.”
Callum greeted them with a smile.
Tim maintained his sullen demeanor and did not speak. Lilian noticed his expression and softened her own, politely inviting Callum, “Mr. Callum, please have a seat.”
Callum could tell that Tim was not pleased to see him.
He had visited three or four times a day and likely wore Tim’s patience thin. Yet, due to his good temperament and upbringing, Tim had refrained from turning him away.
For Camryn’s sake, Callum disregarded Tim’s dark expression and sat down comfortably.
Lilian encouraged Callum to enjoy the tea and snacks, and Callum took the opportunity to indulge without formality.
“Dr. Carden’s snacks are delicious,” he complimented.
After visiting FC Manor, he had noticed Lilian’s fondness for various snacks, so he made an effort to show that he enjoyed them as well, hoping to spark a conversation about food with her.
Lilian smiled and said, “It’s absolutely delicious; I can’t get enough of it now.”
Tim remarked, “I rarely see a big man who enjoys eating sweets.”
Callum responded with a smile, “A big man is still a human being. If you’re a person, you might enjoy sweets too.”
Lilian agreed, “Mr. Callum, you’re right. There’s no rule that sweets are only for women and children; many men enjoy them as well.”
Some men simply love to eat, but they often put on a facade of indifference.
Callum, on the other hand, enjoyed his food without pretense; he ate what he liked and skipped what he didn’t—how authentic.
“Mr. Callum, you’re here to treat your fiancée’s eyes, correct?” Tim asked directly, eager to avoid lengthy conversation with Callum.
He was taking a stroll with his wife, and what should have been a private moment was interrupted by Callum’s visit.
That bright light bulb was shining obliviously.
Tim silently grumbled about Callum.
Before Callum could respond, Tim continued, “Mr. Callum, as you can see, my wife is currently pregnant and nearing her due date. Besides her prenatal checkups, she hardly goes out, much less travels. Unfortunately, I can’t assist you.”
When Callum first came to Lilian’s house to invite her, Tim noticed they had connections in every field. If Lilian hadn’t been so far along in her pregnancy, Tim would have helped Callum persuade her to visit Wiltspoon.
