“I’ve always considered this my home,” she said.
“You claim this is your home, yet you went back to your rented house after you recovered. I wanted to buy you a house, but you declined,” Serenity expressed her frustration about her sister.
“I can afford a house on my own, so I don’t need you to buy one for me. It’s just like buying a car. If I need a car, I’ll buy it myself. You don’t have to gift me anything; I want to achieve everything independently,” Serenity replied, falling silent afterward.
Meanwhile, Zachary was in the process of compiling a list of betrothal gifts and had discussed the idea of giving Liberty a villa with Serenity.
However, he was concerned that Liberty might refuse the offer. So, he tasked Serenity with persuading Liberty to accept the villa.
Serenity thought to herself, ‘What a challenging task.’
She watched as Liberty drove away from her villa, standing at the entrance until Liberty’s car disappeared from sight before she turned and headed back inside.
“Aunt Ser,” called out Sonny, who had just finished showering. He rushed out with a large water gun aimed at Serenity, but hesitated to shoot. He feared Zachary would scold him if he accidentally wet Serenity’s shirt.
He had made that mistake before.
Although Serenity hadn’t been upset, Zachary certainly was. He had scolded Sonny and given him a light smack on the rear. While it hadn’t been a severe punishment, Sonny had learned his lesson not to aim at anyone while playing with water guns.
Serenity raised her hands in surrender, laughing as she said, “Sonny, I give up.” She then picked him up and said, “You smell great, Sonny.”
“Aunt Elisa is the one who smells good,” Sonny replied. Elisa always had a pleasant fragrance, just like Serenity, though Serenity’s scent was subtler.
Elisa’s.
Serenity smiled and remarked, “It’s because Aunt Elisa wears perfume.”
Serenity was not fond of wearing perfume.
Zachary had given her many branded perfumes, but after noticing her dislike for them, he stopped.
“Aunt Ser, has my mom gone home?”
“Mm. She has to work tomorrow, so she went back early to rest.”
