Married at First Sight Chapter 1620

Chapter 1620
Mrs. Lewis remarked, “I wonder what’s wrong with Liberty’s taste. My son is exceptional, yet she shows no interest in him. What type of man is she looking to marry?”
“Is it necessary for divorced women to remarry? I imagine Liberty is feeling frustrated. Accepting a new relationship isn’t easy for her. If Duncan persists, he might spend years trying to win Liberty over. You might not be the one preventing them from being together; instead, you could end up begging Liberty to be with Duncan.”
Mrs. Lewis’s expression darkened.
“I would never beg Liberty to be with Duncan—not unless pigs fly.”
Derek thought to himself, ‘Don’t jinx it. That could come back to haunt you. One day, you might find yourself begging Liberty to marry your son, and pigs just might fly.’
Duncan, who was watching over Sonny in the mall, was lost in thought.
He desperately wanted to meet his mother and Liberty. He was eager to hear what they discussed. Would Liberty become even more hesitant to accept his feelings?
However, he couldn’t leave.
He needed to keep an eye on Sonny.
Liberty had entrusted Duncan with Sonny’s care. If anything were to happen to Sonny, he would feel guilty towards Liberty.
With his hands stuffed in his pockets, he paced back and forth at the playground entrance, but Liberty was nowhere to be found.
“Dunc, Dunc.”
Sonny was tired and wanted to go home.
He wished to leave, but a staff member stopped him from exiting alone. She told Sonny, “Check if your parents are around. If they aren’t, you can keep playing. You can come out once they arrive to pick you up.”
Sonny didn’t see his mother but spotted Duncan instead. He called out to Duncan.
Duncan was unaware of Sonny’s calls. Additionally, due to

Amidst the noise in the playground, Duncan did not hear Sonny’s voice. The attendant approached Duncan and gently patted his shoulder. As Duncan turned to face her, she asked, “Sir, are you the parent of that child? He doesn’t want to play anymore and wishes to leave.”

The moment Duncan spotted Sonny, he quickly responded, “Yes, I’m his uncle.” While speaking, he walked toward Sonny.

“Dunc.” Sonny pointed at Duncan and said to the attendant, “Miss, he’s Dunc. He’s very close to my uncle. Can he take me home?”

Duncan recalled the playground rules that Liberty had explained to him. He added, “I came with his mom just now. She went to buy something, so I’m here to look after him.”

The attendant mainly wanted to ensure that Sonny recognized Duncan. Given their apparent closeness, she allowed Sonny to leave with him.

Duncan picked up Sonny’s shoes, bent down, and placed him on his lap to help him put them on. Afterward, he set Sonny down and took his hand to leave.

“Dunc, my mom paid. Now that I’m done playing, I can get the money back,” Sonny said, referring to the deposit.

Duncan took Sonny to retrieve the deposit and then carried him as they headed outside.

“Dunc, where’s my mom?” Sonny asked.
