Married at First Sight Chapter 1605

Chapter 1605
Grandma May had pointed out that although Elisa shared a similar social status with Zachary, she was not suitable to be the wife of the head of the York family.
“Let’s eat at a hotel. You still have a business engagement, and we don’t need to make a long trip back home.”
“It’s up to you,” Zachary replied.
Serenity smiled. While their relationship with Zachary lacked drama, he had begun to respect her more and prioritize her wishes. Their daily life was simple yet fulfilling and sweet.
Zachary often expressed his desire to be with her in another life.
Serenity found herself feeling the same way; she too dreamed of marrying him and being husband and wife again in their next lifetime.
Meanwhile, at the Lewis family home, Mrs. Lewis set down her phone, her expression grim.
Mr. Lewis sat across from her, holding a newspaper, but he was clearly attuned to his wife’s mood.
He had overheard the conversation between her and their youngest son.
“What’s wrong now? You look terrible. You’ve been like this a lot lately, angry and in a bad mood every day. You’re starting to look older. Stop being angry. I’ll take you for a facial tomorrow to help maintain your skin,” he suggested.
Mrs. Lewis shot her husband a glare. “I’m a senior citizen. If I look old, then so be it. With such a disobedient son, it’s no wonder I age from frustration. You just sit there reading the newspaper and never think to reprimand him.”
“Duncan has become so spoiled because of you!”
Since her son was not heeding her words, Mrs. Lewis directed all her frustration toward her husband.
Mr. Lewis smiled. “Yes, yes, it’s all my fault. He learned all the bad habits from me while inheriting your good qualities. After all, Duncan is my mom’s favorite grandson.”

It was she who spoiled him, yet you are blaming me. “There’s a saying that sons stop listening to their mothers once they grow up. Your son is nearly forty. Why are you still trying to control him? Besides, even if you wanted to interfere in his life, would he allow you to?”

“Aren’t you asking for trouble by insisting on meddling in his affairs when he clearly doesn’t want you to? You have already experienced being a mother-in-law, with three daughters-in-law and many grandchildren. Why are you still so anxious?”

“You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink. Duncan doesn’t like Lily, so forcing him will not help.”

Mrs. Lewis replied, “Lily has already explained everything to me. She won’t pursue Duncan anymore. She said he has no feelings for her and doesn’t want to waste her time. This time when she came to Wiltspoon, she went straight to the airport after her business was finished, without even visiting our house.”

“Lily is such a nice girl. Your son is completely blind to that. He doesn’t like Lily but prefers a divorced woman with a child instead.”

Mrs. Lewis was furious. However, she could not take her anger out on Liberty. She wanted to direct her frustration at someone, but there was no one available. The resentment building inside her made her feel extremely uneasy.

“Duncan doesn’t like Lily, so I arranged a blind date for him and told him to meet the lady for dinner tonight. He didn’t listen and kept himself busy. To hell with being busy. Why wasn’t he busy when he went to All You Can Eat? Does he think I don’t know about that?”

Mrs. Lewis didn’t confront Liberty, but she was aware that her son went to All You Can Eat every day. He always seemed to appear quickly in places where Liberty was present. It wasn’t a coincidence; it felt forced.

An encounter arose due to Duncan’s disobedience as he kept a watchful eye on Liberty.

“He already has someone he likes. What’s the point of arranging a blind date for him? When he didn’t have anyone special, he ignored you even when you set him up on dates,” she remarked.

Mr. Lewis responded to his wife, “Our children will manage just fine on their own. You should stop interfering in Duncan’s affairs.”

“Derek Lewis, are you truly comfortable with the fact that your son is interested in a divorced woman?” she questioned.
