Chapter 1598
Callum guided Camryn to the cashier and had her sit down. “I’ll go prepare some food.”
Camryn was taken aback. “Are you really going to cook?”
Her earlier comments were intentionally made to convey her blindness and the many challenges she faced in life. If they were to date, she believed she would only be a burden to him. In a way, she hoped to discourage him from pursuing her.
“You can try my cooking.”
Callum leaned in and whispered in her ear, “There’s a saying that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach. Why didn’t I think of this sooner?”
Camryn asked, “Callum, do you really think I’m worth this?”
“Absolutely.”
Camryn fell silent.
“You can either display or take apart this bouquet, but please don’t give me the money back. If you do, I’ll be really upset. You’ve seen what happens when I’m angry.”
Camryn was left speechless once more.
She felt increasingly helpless when dealing with this bully.
The flower shop had a small kitchen, which was essentially just a table in an empty space. Cooking could be done with the portable gas stove and rice cooker set up on the table.
Callum looked around but couldn’t find any ingredients.
“Camryn, didn’t you buy any ingredients?”
“No.”
She had intended to order food instead.
As Callum washed the rice, he said, “I’ll go to the nearby supermarket once the rice starts cooking. What do you want to eat? Will your employees be joining us?”
The store assistants, with their keen ears, chimed in simultaneously, “We’ll just grab fast food, Mr. York. You don’t need to make our share.”
Callum acknowledged with a hum.
Camryn’s employees were adept at gauging the atmosphere.
If the shop’s profits improved, he would suggest that Camryn increase their salaries.
Business was thriving. A few minutes later, Callum left Spring Blossoms to buy ingredients. Upon his return, he told the two bodyguards, “You can go eat first.” The bodyguards responded respectfully and went to a nearby fast food chain with the two store assistants to get their meals.
However, after they departed, Camryn’s fired cousins arrived aggressively while Callum was washing the ingredients. As the cousins exited their car, they noticed that there were no bodyguards from the York family or any store assistants present—only Camryn was there. This realization emboldened them even further.
The eldest cousin waved his hand and commanded his brothers, “Destroy her flower shop!” Camryn had dismissed all of them and expelled them from Newman Enterprise, obstructing their path to wealth. After all, as Mr. Newman’s biological nephews, they could have earned a decent amount of money. Camryn had cut off their financial support, which felt to them like a betrayal akin to killing their parents. They felt it was unacceptable not to teach her a lesson.
If Camryn had the power, she could send them all to prison. They were eager to see if she could still hold her head high among relatives after this. It would be surprising if she escaped severe criticism. They viewed her as a heartless blind person.
The Chandlers and Joyners had not anticipated that the seemingly inconspicuous blind woman could be so formidable. After their uncle lost his freedom, Camryn successfully persuaded Dalton to help her take control of the company. What was even more infuriating was that all of this unfolded right under their noses. They assumed that without their uncle in the company, they could easily claim the highest position as his nephews.
Unexpectedly, aside from a few insignificant managers who typically clung to them, everyone else in the company ignored them.
The blind Camryn was unaware of anything. Nevertheless, she managed to make all the senior managers recognize her takeover of Newman Enterprise, with Dalton’s assistance.
What could a blind person accomplish?
Camryn’s cousins believed that Dalton was exploiting her status as the eldest daughter of the Newman family to manipulate others. His goal might be to take control of Newman Enterprise for himself, but the blind woman was oblivious to being used. In fact, she collaborated with Dalton to force them out of Newman Enterprise.
Even if they harbored ambitions and sought to divide Newman Enterprise among themselves, at least the company wouldn’t fall into the hands of an outsider.
They were Mr. Newman’s biological nephews.
Their mothers were esteemed members of the Newman family.
Were they not preferable to Dalton, who was an outsider?
