Married at First Sight Chapter 1582

Chapter 1582
After dinner, Serenity returned to her room to shower before heading to the guest bedroom where her sister was.
Liberty was carrying her son out of the bathroom.
“Sonny just finished his shower,” she said. “He had a blast today, but now he’s sleepy. I gave him a quick wash, and he was nodding off while I was rinsing him.”
Liberty gently laid her son down on the bed, where he promptly fell asleep.
Serenity smiled as she pinched Sonny’s cheek. He was sleeping soundly and didn’t react to his aunt giving his face a gentle squeeze.
“He and Rowan really ran around today. It’s a good thing, though. The pressure to excel in his studies is real, even in the tenth grade. His cousins and brothers do well academically, so if he doesn’t keep up, he’ll feel left behind. They won’t be happy about that.”
“All that fun is a great stress reliever,” Serenity added, her heart going out to the youngest member of the York family.
Sonny was quite the charmer; he always greeted Serenity with the cutest voice.
“What’s the matter?” Liberty asked, sensing something was bothering her sister.
“Nothing. I just came to check on Sonny. Since he’s asleep, I think I’ll head to the study. You should get some rest too, Liberty.”
Liberty smiled in response, “It’s too early for me to go to bed. I usually sleep around ten.”
It was only seven o’clock in the evening at that moment.
“Keep working, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Don’t compare yourself to your mother-in-law and others. They are experienced with the system, while you’re just starting out. Everyone’s journey begins at zero. You can do this.”
Serenity replied,

“The stress was overwhelming at first, but I felt much better after my mother-in-law reassured me that I have a few years to learn the ropes. I will do my best, Liberty. I would be disappointed in myself if I can’t perform well in my role as the lady of the house.”

Liberty tucked her son in.

“Take your time. Don’t let me hold you back,” she replied.

Serenity leaned in to kiss her nephew’s cheek before leaving her sister’s room and heading to the study.

Once in the study, Serenity faced the daunting task of the account books lining the shelves and felt uncertain about where to begin. She took a moment to look around, scanning the ledgers until she could clear her mind. It was essential for her to understand the situation in Wildridge Manor before delving into the family’s business accounts.

While Serenity read the account books, Zachary chatted with his grandmother downstairs.

Duncan had not left the York residence; he had been there all day.

“Grandma May,” he whispered, “Did you put in a good word for me?”

He knew that Grandma May had spoken with Liberty.

Casting a sidelong glance at Duncan, Grandma May replied, “I only have one grandson who is married, and I still have the others to consider. When would I find the time to worry about you too?”

Before Duncan could respond, the elderly lady continued, “Liberty has been through a painful relationship. She’s hesitant to even think about marriage. It’s not going to be easy for her to move past the past and start anew. Baby steps.”

Duncan sighed, mentally preparing himself to wait a few years until Liberty found success and might consider making room for him in her life.

Still, he felt eager and desperate. He wished he could win her heart right away.

He expressed his feelings to Liberty.
