Chapter 1557
Camryn was the wife that Grandma May had chosen for Callum, which led Rosella to pay closer attention to the Newman family. She was a little curious about the sudden visit from Camryn’s two aunts.
By the time Camryn’s aunts arrived, Rosella had already finished her breakfast. She was sitting on the sofa in the hall, flipping through a fashion magazine.
Mason personally escorted the two ladies in.
“Madam, Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Joyner are here,” he announced.
Rosella hummed in acknowledgment, closed the magazine, and placed it on the coffee table. She stood up and greeted the two women with a smile.
“Mrs. York,” Brenda said.
Although the two Newman sisters occasionally mingled with wealthy ladies, they had not been able to enter the true circle of noblewomen, including the ladies of the York family.
The sisters had come over today without prior notice and had to wait outside the manor for several hours. They had arrived too early, mistakenly assuming that Rosella, like them, would be up early preparing breakfast for the family. In reality, Rosella had just woken up.
After waiting for several hours in vain, Brenda said, “Please have a seat.”
Rosella glanced at the sisters, wondering which one was older. Brenda pulled her younger sister forward and introduced herself first. “Mrs. York, I’m Camryn’s eldest aunt. My husband’s last name is Chandler. This is my sister, whose husband’s last name is Joyner.”
Rosella smiled and waited for their full introductions before inviting them to sit down. She then ordered the maid to serve tea, snacks, and fruit.
After everyone exchanged a few polite greetings, Amy tugged on the hem of her older sister’s shirt.
Brenda understood the gesture and smiled at Rosella, saying, “Mrs. York, we—”
“I apologize for the unannounced visit today, but there’s something we would like to discuss with you,” Rosella said, maintaining her smile. To the sisters, her smile radiated grace and nobility.
“Please go ahead, Mrs. Chandler.”
Brenda’s thoughts were consumed by jealousy, imagining Camryn winning Callum’s affection. How could a blind person capture the interest of the second young master of the York family?
Brenda believed her daughter was not as beautiful as Camryn, yet she excelled in other areas. However, she couldn’t even meet Callum. The main issue was that Camryn was not aligned with them; she was connected to Abel, who was closest to Evelyn. Brenda and Amy had offered no support to Camryn during her difficult childhood.
There was no bond between the aunts and their niece. Since they were on opposing sides, they could not allow Camryn to surpass them. Without Callum’s support, how could a blind girl like her compete with them for the Newman family inheritance?
With that thought in mind, Brenda wasted no time and got straight to the point.
“Mrs. York, I’ve noticed that my niece, Camryn, is infatuated with your eldest son. He’s not just anyone, is he? My niece is far too ambitious for a blind girl. How can she possibly be worthy of Mr. York?”
“As her aunts, we’ve tried to talk sense into her, but she won’t listen. She’s determined to use your son to elevate her status. So, we’ve decided to take on the role of the villains and speak to you to prevent her from getting in too deep.”
“Mrs. York, everyone is aware of Camryn’s condition. She’s not a bad person, but she’s blind. How can she be deserving of Mr. York?”
