Married at First Sight Chapter 1554

Chapter 1554
Although the wedding had not yet taken place, the York family had already begun preparations to involve her sister in their family business, signaling their recognition and trust in her.
Liberty felt a sense of relief.
Her sister was indeed much luckier than she had been.
Initially, Serenity had married Zachary to help ease her own concerns. At that time, their relationship lacked any emotional connection, but now they shared a deep love and were enjoying a joyful life together.
Most importantly, the York family was the wealthiest in Wiltspoon, yet they never looked down on Serenity’s background.
This was quite rare.
Liberty was truly happy for her sister.
Serenity took her mother-in-law’s arm and, like a playful child, said, “Mom, we just got back. Can I have some fun?”
Tania affectionately poked Serenity’s forehead and replied, “Haven’t you had enough fun? The vegetable farm you invested in is being managed for you. As an investor, you only need to check in occasionally. Besides overseeing your store, you’re not that busy.”
She glanced at her son and joked, “If I had to say what you’re busy with, I’d say you’re busy being in love with Zack.”
Serenity blushed deeply at her mother-in-law’s teasing.
“Come on, let’s go upstairs.”
Tania, unfazed by her daughter-in-law’s playful demeanor, pulled Serenity toward the second floor, which contained two study rooms.
The large study was commonly shared by Zachary and his father, while the small one was reserved for Tania. Only Tania and Grandma May had keys to that small study.
However, since Tania married into the family, Grandma May had entrusted all household management to her eldest daughter-in-law.
She rarely visited the small study herself.

was quite spacious. The room was filled with shelves lined with books and various documents, creating an atmosphere of quiet scholarship. Tania gestured for Serenity to step further inside.

“If anyone else wishes to join this small study, they must obtain consent from either me or Grandma May,” Tania explained.

Her second and third daughters-in-law were aware of the family estate but did not have to manage it; they focused solely on their private businesses. They would assist with the family’s large enterprise only when necessary. Unless Tania specifically requested help, they refrained from intervening to avoid raising her suspicions about their intentions.

In any case, they already had their hands full with their own family matters. Their sons were capable, allowing them some peace of mind. Their primary concern was their sons’ marriages, but with Grandma May around, they felt they could afford to relax for a few years. If Grandma May struggled to convince her grandchildren to marry, it would be even more challenging for them as mothers.

The nine young masters of the York family held Grandma May in the highest regard and accepted everything she did for them without question. Consequently, Tania’s second and third daughters-in-law hoped for Grandma May’s longevity, as they relied on her to encourage their sons to marry. They simply had to wait to become mothers-in-law themselves.

Tania led Serenity into the small study and unlocked the door with a key she always carried.

“Your nana no longer uses this key, so I’ll give it to you later. This way, you can easily access the books whenever you like,” she said.

Serenity nodded in agreement.

Once inside the small study, Tania instructed Serenity to close the door behind them. Serenity complied, turning around to take in the room. Despite being called a small study, it was surprisingly spacious.

was not small at all.

Along with a desk, there was a sofa set and multiple bookshelves filled with accounting books.
At first, Serenity thought the books on the shelves were paperbacks, but upon closer inspection, she realized they were ledgers. Some of the ledgers appeared quite old, likely left behind by the ancestors of the York family.
“This shelf of books was inherited from the York ancestors. You can browse through them to learn about how the family amassed their fortune.”
