Married at First Sight Chapter 1553

Chapter 1553
Zachary fell silent.
This was a responsibility Serenity had to assume since marrying him.
Looking at her husband, Serenity noticed his silence and said, “I need to make the most of these days while Zachary is home on holiday to truly understand my role. I can always ask you all questions if something isn’t clear.”
She recognized her obligations as the wife of the York family.
However, it hadn’t occurred to her that she would need to manage the family businesses.
Moreover, she had not anticipated that she would eventually oversee the vast Wildridge Manor. Serenity recalled her first meeting with Jane and how adeptly Jane managed FC Manor.
It seemed that, like Jane, she would need to take charge of some of her in-laws’ assets. While Jane appeared to have already taken on that responsibility, Serenity had not yet begun.
Jane had a solid background. Although she was raised in the Murphy family, which was not particularly wealthy, they were still quite comfortable. The entire family cherished Jane, fostering her confidence and openness.
Later, Jane discovered her biological parents, with her biological father being the head of the Lafayette family in Meadspring. Aside from the Lafayette family fortune, Jane would inherit tens of billions of dollars from her father’s private properties.
She was a genuine multi-billionaire.
Wealth and status instilled confidence in a person,
something Serenity felt she lacked.
Yet, thinking of Zachary and his family’s trust in her restored her confidence. Even if she made mistakes while taking over, her in-laws wouldn’t hold it against her. As long as she learned from her errors and corrected them, it would signify progress.
“Zach handles the external matters while you…

You are responsible for managing the internal matters. You oversee several small industries, including the rental of shops and buildings, as well as the operation of some chain stores. It’s not a significant responsibility. Seren, I am confident you will adapt quickly,” Grandma May reassured Serenity, aiming to ease the pressure on the younger woman.

The more substantial business operations were left in Zachary’s hands. However, Serenity needed to familiarize herself with the various industries the York family was involved in. As a wife, it was important for her to have some knowledge of Zachary’s affairs, especially since she would accompany him to various dinners in the future and could not afford to be completely uninformed.

Serenity smiled, feeling a bit of the pressure lift from her heart. After entering the house and engaging in conversation, Grandma May shared her earlier comments with Tania.

Tania replied with a smile, “I wanted Seren to learn about taking over a long time ago, but Zack lives away from home and rarely visits. I can’t go to their place because I’m afraid Zack will kick me out.”

She was well aware of her son’s possessive nature—he preferred to keep Serenity to himself. If she rushed over to instruct her daughter-in-law in family management, her son might accuse her of stealing his wife’s time and even throw her, his own mother, out of the house. Zachary was certainly capable of such actions.

“When Seren is ready to take over completely, I’ll finally be able to travel the world with Liam,” Tania said.

“Mom, please teach me at a slow pace,” Serenity replied humbly, as she had not fully integrated into high society yet.

Tania smiled reassuringly. “Don’t worry. If you have any questions, just ask me or your nana. Come upstairs with me first; I’ll show you the accounting books.”

Serenity glanced at Zachary. He shrugged and said, “This is something I…”

“I can’t assist you with that, dear. You need to follow whatever Mom says,” she replied. Serenity glanced at her sister, who smiled and added, “Don’t look to me for help either. This is your family matter and your responsibility. I can’t get involved.” Liberty felt a wave of happiness; she was truly pleased for her sister.
