Married at First Sight Chapter 1543

Chapter 1543
“Did you not sleep well last night?” Duncan asked his friend, expressing concern.
He noticed Zachary coming downstairs with a tense expression and watched as Zachary settled onto the single-seated sofa.
“Didn’t you get drunk last night?” Zachary retorted.
Duncan smiled and replied, “I only had two glasses. I didn’t get drunk.”
After a brief pause, he added, “You all have someone to look after you when you’re drunk. I’m single—I have no one to care for me if I get wasted, so I didn’t want to drink too much.”
Zachary scoffed. “Ms. Harmon would have been more than willing to take care of you.”
At the mention of Lily, Duncan’s smile faded.
“Nothing is going to happen between Lily and me. She has moved out of my house.”
Lily was preparing to leave Wiltspoon.
The partnerships she had been negotiating were mostly settled.
When Mrs. Lewis started pushing harder for Lily and Duncan to get together, Lily honestly explained that she hadn’t been pursuing Duncan lately. His focus was elsewhere, and she didn’t want to waste any more effort.
Her time in Wiltspoon had been productive. It was time for her to return home.
“Your mom doesn’t think so. You’re here early for my sister-in-law, right? She said she has no feelings for you.”
Duncan replied patiently, “I know Liberty doesn’t have feelings for me, but that doesn’t stop me from pursuing her.”
“As long as I’m interested in her, that’s what matters.”
Zachary shot him a disapproving look.
Duncan chuckled.
Sam poured him a glass of water.
“Sam, where’s your wife?” Zachary inquired.
Sam responded, “My wife and Ms. Hunt are taking a stroll and admiring the flowers in the garden with Sonny.”
Zachary hummed in reply and chose not to ask further.

He stood up and left Duncan behind as he walked out of the house, clearly on his way to find Serenity. Duncan boldly followed him. Zachary glanced back at Duncan and asked, “Why are you following me?” Duncan smiled and replied, “I miss Sonny; I want to see him.”

They walked together and soon encountered the sisters, who were returning.

“Sonny!” Duncan called out.

“Dunc!” Sonny exclaimed. Unaware that Duncan wanted to be his father, Sonny ran toward him with excitement.

“Sonny, come here. Let Uncle Zak carry you,” Zachary said.

Sonny rushed over, but it was Zachary who picked him up. Duncan had already squatted down with his arms open, waiting for Sonny to leap into his embrace, but Zachary intervened.

The sisters approached.

“Mr. Lewis,” Serenity greeted Duncan politely.

He returned her greeting with a smile and turned his attention to Liberty.

“Good morning, Mr. Lewis,” Liberty said calmly, meeting his gaze directly without flinching.
