Chapter 1513
Serenity found herself amused by Jasmine’s remark.
“You’ll actually feel jealous of your child,” Jasmine declared with a self-righteous air. “Josh is my man. How could I not feel envious when others draw his attention, even if they’re my own children? My kids will be pampered by their partners in the future, which means they can’t share Josh’s love with me.”
“Perhaps Mr. Bucham is concerned he’ll feel jealous of his children,” Serenity suggested with a laugh. “My husband is definitely going to be jealous of our child. He’s quite overbearing. While he may seem magnanimous on the surface, he’s actually narrow-minded and domineering.”
“Seren, it seems like you’re openly displaying your affection for Zachary,” Jasmine teased.
“I don’t need to flaunt our affection. You and Mr. Bucham are all lovey-dovey. Jas, you’re staying at the store today, right?”
“Mhm.”
Jasmine then inquired, “Do you have anything to take care of? You can continue with your work; I can keep an eye on the store.”
“I’ll head to Spring Blossoms and return before half past eleven.”
“Go ahead. Check around and see if you can find two attractive houseplants for our store.”
Serenity instinctively replied, “The plants in our store are thriving. We don’t need to buy more.”
“Get some succulents instead.”
“Okay, I’ll help you pick some out.”
Serenity grabbed her car keys and stepped out of the bookstore. She called to Harry, who was wandering outside, “I’m off to Spring Blossoms. You don’t need to come with me.”
“Alright, Missus,” he replied.
Harry was aware that his colleague would have someone watching over Serenity discreetly. Even if he didn’t accompany her, her safety would be ensured.
assured.
Moreover, Serenity was quick-witted.
At that moment, no one dared to harm Serenity, as doing so would mean opposing numerous wealthy families.
Serenity visited Spring Blossoms but did not find Camryn there.
“Haven’t you seen your boss?” Serenity inquired of a shop assistant who was pruning a rose.
“Ms. Camryn returned to restock products, but she received a call from a regular customer asking for a bouquet, so she personally delivered it,” the assistant replied.
“When can I expect her back?” Serenity asked.
“I’m not certain. Mrs. York, why don’t you head home for now? I’ll have Ms. Camryn call you as soon as she returns.”
Serenity replied, “Camryn usually doesn’t call me after she gets back. Her phone has been off lately.”
The shop assistant suggested, “Mrs. York, please leave your contact information. Once Ms. Camryn is back, I’ll make sure she calls you. She has changed her phone number, so it’s possible she doesn’t remember yours.”
“Camryn has a new number, huh?”
Internally, Serenity sighed. It made sense why Callum mentioned Camryn was often unreachable. Her attempts to contact Camryn twice yielded no results.
It seemed Camryn had indeed changed her number.
In reality, Camryn was trying to distance herself from Callum; she wanted nothing to do with him.
Callum’s journey to win back his wife’s heart was destined to be a long one.
“Yes, Ms. Camryn has recently changed her number,” the assistant confirmed.
Serenity responded with an “oh,” contemplating this information before leaving her contact details with the shop assistant. She then exited Spring Blossoms.
