Chapter 1503
Zachary set the phone down on the table and remarked to Serenity, “Nana is getting craftier.”
He considered calling her devious instead, but feared retribution if she found out.
Ultimately, he chose to remain silent.
“A matchmaker is only responsible for introducing two people, not for ensuring that they will have children,”
Serenity playfully teased Zachary.
Grandma May’s role was simply to help her grandsons select their wives; how they pursued them was entirely their concern, not hers.
She still had several single grandchildren at home.
Recently, when Dylan and the others discovered their nana’s method for choosing their wives, they all became anxious, practically trembling with fear.
Every day, they wondered what type of wife their nana would select for them.
In fact, they began sweet-talking and coaxing her daily, hoping she would allow them to remain single for a few more years. They prayed she wouldn’t move too quickly on their behalf.
In short, they jumped through various hoops to maintain their single status.
After breakfast, Serenity had no time to relax and needed to deliver breakfast to her sister.
Meanwhile, Sonny had to head to class.
Jim was already outside waiting to pick him up.
“I don’t want to go to class. I want to go with you to see Mom,”
the little boy protested, contemplating quitting after just a few days of school.
When Serenity led him outside and he spotted Jim waiting, he immediately turned and wrapped his arms around her legs.
Serenity crouched down and spoke to her nephew, “Sonny, we can’t give up halfway. We have to see this through to the end. Didn’t you say you wanted to learn?
“Are you training in self-defense so you can protect Mom and me?”
“If you don’t stay committed, you won’t learn self-defense, and you won’t be able to protect Mom,” Serenity replied.
“Sonny, whatever you choose to do, you must take it seriously. You can’t quit halfway through.”
Sonny pouted and said sadly, “I’m really tired. I just want to rest. I want to go to the hospital to be with Mom.”
Serenity understood that self-defense training could be exhausting. She had often wanted to give up when she learned as a child, but she had persevered.
Now, even the most common troublemakers were no match for her.
“Sonny, I know it’s tiring, but you need to persevere. Learning self-defense is all about determination. You must practice every day. Once you grasp the basics, it will become easier for you.”
“Jim will pick you up after class and take you to the hospital to see your mom. Just follow Jim to class for now, okay?”
Sonny continued to pout.
Serenity wrapped an arm around her nephew, kissed his cheek, and said gently, “Our Sonny is the most wonderful boy.”
Sonny’s pout faded.
“I’ll go to class, Aunt Ser. I want to be the most wonderful boy.”
“You can do it, Sonny!”
Serenity stood up.
Jim stepped forward.
“Ma’am, I’ll take Sonny to class now.”
Serenity nodded. “Drive safely.”
“Yes.”
Jim lifted Sonny, who waved goodbye to Serenity as they left. Soon, Jim drove away with Sonny from the villa.
