Married at First Sight Chapter 1493

Chapter 1493
“If you want to stay here for a few days to avoid Mr. York, I can let my girlfriend know and have her come over tomorrow to keep you company.”
As a man, it was difficult for him to take care of Camryn. Moreover, since he had chosen to be her brother figure, he felt the need to maintain a certain distance. He was willing to assist her in every aspect, not just with work. After all, she was still unable to see.
He was the one who helped her set up the video conference earlier that afternoon.
“There’s nothing going on between Mr. Callum and me,” Camryn quickly clarified.
Duncan placed some food on her plate and studied her for a moment before saying, “I first met you when you were in your first year of middle school, and now it’s been fourteen years. I know you well.”
“Despite appearing busy and focused during the video conference, I could tell you were a bit distracted. Your mind tends to wander when you stop talking. I’m not sure what transpired between you and Mr. York, but when I saw him approaching, he clearly seemed jealous,”
“He must have misunderstood our relationship, right? Then he confronted you, you didn’t clarify anything, and that led to a disagreement?”
Camryn paused her eating but then resumed as if nothing was amiss.
“We didn’t fight, Dal. We’re just friends. There’s nothing to explain. Please stop asking. I’m fine. I was just thinking about Trenton coming back. Will he be upset when he learns everything?”
In the Newman family, Camryn was indifferent to her mother, let alone her stepfather and half-sister. However, she did care about her younger brother.
Although she often acted coldly toward him when he tried to show concern, her heart had long been softened by his warmth. She regarded him as

her true family. Trenton was different from Carrie; he treated her like a genuine sister and was very protective of her. However, it was his protectiveness that led Carrie to ask her mother to send him to a boarding school after he started elementary school. He could only return home once a week. Now in his third year of high school, he was only able to come home once a month and would soon be taking his college entrance exam. Camryn worried that family matters might impact him.

“He has his entrance exam coming up soon,” she said softly. “He has good grades, so my uncle and mother both hope he can get into Poltham University, but he mentioned he doesn’t want to go to a university that far away. He prefers to take the exam for Wiltspoon University so he can stay in Wiltspoon.”

“He said that if he attended a local university, he could come home to see me more often.”

Dalton understood that of everyone in the Newman family, only Trenton was a genuinely good person. He thought for a moment before suggesting, “Don’t tell Trenton the truth when he comes back this weekend. Just say that his parents and older sister have gone on a trip, and reveal the truth after his entrance exams are over.”

“I believe Trenton is understanding. He’s seventeen now and knows how to discern right from wrong. Once you explain everything to him, let him choose whether to resent or dislike you, if that’s what he wants.”

After a brief silence, Camryn agreed with Dalton’s suggestion. While investigating her father’s cause of death, she realized that one day, she and her brother would find themselves on opposite sides.

“Don’t overthink it, just eat first. Seafood doesn’t taste as good when cold. I’ll drive you back to the city once you finish your meal.”

Dalton filled Camryn’s plate.

With more food in hand, she said, “You may not want to share about you and Mr. York, but I’ll be honest. If you have the opportunity, you should hold onto him.

“The York family can provide you with support. They won’t be concerned about your family’s wealth. I doubt there’s another man who would pursue you if it weren’t for your family fortune.”

Camryn replied softly, “I’m blind, Dal. I’m not a suitable match for Mr. Callum.”

“That doesn’t matter as long as he and his family accept you. Look at Mr. Zachary York and his wife. They may not have seemed like a perfect match, but aren’t they completely in love now?

“Don’t worry about what others think. What truly matters is that you both care for each other.”
