Serenity was the first to visit her sister in the hospital.

Upon her arrival, Liberty and Sonny had already finished their dinner.

Sonny was thrilled to see Serenity and ran over to her, asking to be picked up.

Serenity lifted him into her arms and noticed her sister preparing to wash the insulated lunch boxes. She quickly offered, “Liberty, let me take care of that.”

“You don’t have to. I’m a bit bored right now, so I’m just looking for something to do.” Liberty would have let Mrs. Lane wash the lunch boxes long ago if not for her desire to keep busy.

“You closed the bookstore pretty early today.”

Standing at the bathroom door with her nephew in her arms, Serenity watched her sister wash the lunch boxes in hot water and explained, “Jasmine is treating us to dinner. Sonny, you’re already full from dinner. I was planning to take you out to eat.”

Liberty laughed and replied, “I feel like I’m being raised like a pig these days. I eat, sleep, and repeat every day. Besides, the food Sam brings over is so delicious. At this rate, I might weigh a hundred sixty pounds again by the time I get discharged.”

She easily gained weight.

Even a small increase in her food intake would make her waist thicker.

“That’s not true. I can see that you’ve lost a lot of weight.”

After all, Liberty had come close to death but had survived.

“Take Sonny with you later. He’s getting bored spending all day here with me. He always wants to watch cartoons on my phone, but I don’t let him because it’s bad for his eyes.”

If a child began attending now, they would need to complete three years of kindergarten before entering elementary school. Raising a child was indeed a costly endeavor, which is why children were often referred to as “money-eaters.”

“Okay,” she said, feeling satisfied that her sister was doing well. Serenity quickly left the hospital with Sonny and headed to York Corporation. By the time they arrived, it was after work hours.

“Mrs. York,” several employees greeted her with smiles as she walked in. Sonny, who was cradled in her arms, captured everyone’s attention with his charming looks. When some senior managers stopped to chat with Serenity, Sonny sweetly greeted them, earning him compliments.

Zachary sensed Serenity’s arrival the moment her car pulled into the building. He had already finished his tasks and was eagerly waiting for her in his office since she had mentioned she would pick him up. Upon knowing she was there, he promptly took the elevator down.

“Uncle Zak!” Sonny exclaimed, his sharp eyes spotting Zachary. He quickly wriggled free from Serenity’s hold and ran toward Zachary like an excited little bird. As Sonny’s adorable voice rang out, many employees paused to glance at their typically stoic CEO. They were surprised to see him take a few swift steps forward, squatting down with open arms to embrace Sonny as he rushed into his uncle’s hold. Sonny nestled his head into Zachary’s shoulder.

Zachary lifted him up and spun him around, prompting a burst of laughter from the child. Zachary joined in the laughter, while everyone else stood in stunned silence. Was this really their stoic CEO? He revealed such a gentle side. It appeared that their unyielding CEO had a fondness for children. Considering how well he treated his wife and nephew, it’s possible that he might become a stay-at-home dad once Mrs. York gave birth. He might even bring the baby to work with him.
