Married at First Sight Chapter 1484

Chapter 1484
“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Charles. My sister is doing much better now and is recovering quite well,” Serenity replied.
“That’s great to hear.”
Mr. Charles took another bite of the vegetables in his bowl.
“Serenity, I need to tell you something. Can you give me some advice and let me know if it’s sound? I mentioned it to Mrs. Charles, and she scolded me.”
Serenity chuckled and said, “Of course, Mr. Charles. What is it? I’m here to listen and offer my advice.”
“You know I can tell fortunes, right? I didn’t learn it formally; I picked it up from others and figured it out through reading some books.”
Mr. Charles paused eating and spoke softly, “I think I could set up a fortune-telling stall by the roadside or in the park. I’d do it during my free time to earn some extra money for my family, even though I still need to manage our grocery store.”
“As our children and elders age, middle-aged people like us feel more pressure. Relying solely on our grocery store’s income is exhausting, so I want to earn a bit more. However, Mrs. Charles scolded me harshly.”
“She wanted me to predict the seven winning lottery numbers for tonight. Oh, wait, tomorrow. Today is Wednesday, and the draws happen only on Thursdays. She plans to invest all her money in the special draw, which has better odds than the regular one, at a 1:100 ratio.”
Mr. Charles complained, “If I knew the winning lottery numbers, I would have been richer than the wealthiest person by now. Why would I need to set up a stall? Instead, she accused me of being lazy and trying to sneak off to play.”
Serenity smiled and replied, “Mr. Charles, please remember to call me and let me…

“Do you know the winning numbers for tomorrow? I would spend my entire fortune on that special draw,” she said.

“Serenity, don’t tease me. I believe I can finally set up a stall with my skill level. Any money I earn counts,” he replied.

“Mr. Charles, if you’re looking to make extra money, you don’t need to set up a fortune-telling stall in the park. Many people perceive park vendors as swindlers; those who are truly skilled won’t need to do that, as customers will seek them out,” she explained.

After a brief silence, Mr. Charles said, “I don’t have any other skills. I’ve been interested in this for many years, and I feel I’ve finally grasped a part of it.”

He had been quite accurate with Serenity’s fortune.

Mr. Charles had told his wife long ago that Serenity would lead a rich and respectable life, one that ordinary wealthy families could not match.

Now that Serenity had married into the York family, the wealthiest in town, Mr. Charles believed he was correct.

This is why he considered setting up a stall in the park to earn some money.

“There are many professions in the world, and each one has its experts. If I support your plans, I’d feel like I’m endorsing superstition. However, I still think you should pursue it if that’s what you want. Whether you succeed or fail, you won’t regret trying,” he encouraged.

“Mr. Charles, you really should talk to Mrs. Charles about this. Since it would only occupy your free time and not interfere with your grocery store’s business, she will likely understand and approve. After all, you’re doing it for your family,” Serenity advised.

As she spoke with Mr. Charles, Serenity continued moving things around. After finishing, she returned to the counter, grabbed her bag, and pulled out her phone to put it in her pocket. She turned to Mr. Charles and said, “Mr.

“Charles, a married couple can only live happily by communicating,” she said.

Mr. Charles smiled thoughtfully before responding, “Serenity, you’re more perceptive than I expected, even though you’re over a decade younger than me. You’ve truly opened my eyes. You’re just getting off work, right? In that case, I won’t keep you any longer. I’ll head back and discuss this with Mrs. Charles.”

With that, Mr. Charles left, feeling cheerful.

He returned to his family’s grocery store.

Serenity watched him go, only averting her gaze after a moment. She pulled down the shutter and locked it.

Mr. Charles’s life mirrored that of countless ordinary people.

A middle-aged person often juggles responsibilities for both the young and the old. They cannot afford to fall ill or become complacent; they must work diligently to support their families.

It’s quite stressful.
