Chapter 1466
The time Callum and Camryn spent together was brief, leading Serenity to believe that her brother-in-law had quickly developed their relationship. At the very least, he seemed to understand relationships better than Zachary did.
“Your face is swollen, and your lip looks injured. Did you kiss Camryn without her consent? She slapped you, didn’t she?” Serenity’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.
She wasn’t naive; she had experienced similar situations before.
Her suspicion was confirmed upon seeing Callum’s appearance—he had forcefully kissed Camryn.
His handsome face turned pale and flushed, but he remained silent.
His silence spoke volumes.
Serenity stood up and moved away.
“Serenity, Serenity, you promised you’d help me!” Callum said nervously, fearing she was backing out of her promise.
Without turning around, Serenity replied, “I’m just getting a glass of water. You really startled me.”
Callum was left speechless.
After pouring herself a cup of warm water, she returned, sipping it as she sat across from Callum and looked at him.
The York family was respectable—everyone was educated and cultured.
This was Serenity’s assessment of her in-laws.
Callum was different from Zachary, who was cold and arrogant. While Callum wasn’t exactly warm, he was certainly gentler than Zachary.
She hadn’t expected him to act so impulsively.
“Serenity…”
“Callum, I never thought of you as a pervert.”
Callum’s ears turned red.
“I was impulsive. I acted out of anger. Camryn refused to answer my calls or see me, but I saw her with another man. I witnessed him poking her forehead.”
Callum acknowledged that he had behaved inappropriately toward Camryn. He truly just…
He acted on impulse. He felt jealousy. Jealousy towards that stranger. Although the man was not as handsome as Callum, his demeanor was equally impressive. He must have had a successful career.
“Given everything you did, I’d be surprised if Camryn answered your calls. Was she very close to other men? She doesn’t have a boyfriend, right? How could she be that close to a man? Who was the man you saw? Do you know him? Could he be a relative of hers?”
Callum was taken aback. Could that man be related to Camryn?
“I asked Camryn, but she refused to tell me. She insisted it was none of my business who he was or how he was connected to her. She said we’re just friends, so I have no right to question her about who she’s close to.”
Callum added softly, “I acted impulsively out of anger.”
He realized that forcing himself on someone was not something to take pride in, and he certainly could not announce it to the world.
“Is she ignoring your calls and pushing you away because you forced yourself on her?” Serenity asked.
Callum shook his head. “I told her the truth yesterday. I explained that I approached her because she is the wife Nana chose for me. That’s why I treat her as my wife and support her unconditionally.” Serenity was left speechless.
