Liberty was preoccupied with her business at All You Can Eat. After her injury, two of her employees visited her in the hospital. Trusting them, she handed one of them the store keys so they could open for business as usual. She had asked Serenity to check in, and since there were regulars and returning customers, the business seemed to be doing well.
Despite this, Liberty felt anxious. She was eager to recover quickly so she could start earning money again. Jasmine, who was busy obtaining her marriage license that day, would be unable to return to the store later.
“Our bookstore hasn’t been open for a while,” Serenity thought. Now that her sister was recovering well and being cared for by Mrs. Lane, Serenity felt more at ease. However, she worried that if she didn’t return to the store soon, people might assume she planned to close it down and settle into a domestic life. Mr. Charles might lose his bet with his friends, especially since he had won quite a bit last time.
“Sonny went to the gym?” Serenity asked.
“Yeah, Jim sent him there,” came the reply.
Serenity took out her phone and said, “I’ll call Jim and ask him to send Sonny to my store after his class so I can have some company.” After all, Sonny was still young and would likely be bored spending every day in the hospital.
Liberty hummed in agreement. “Jasmine went to get her marriage license today?” she asked with a smile. “Her engagement party last night must have been lively, right?”
“It was indeed. Many people showed up. Liberty, you have to get better soon; you must attend her wedding. Jasmine also said you have to be there, and Sonny will be her flower boy.”
Liberty smiled. “Of course! I’ll be able to jump and dance by the time her wedding comes around.”
“Seren, you really should go and open your store. Hurry up and go. Don’t worry about me.” Under the repeated encouragement, Serenity felt compelled to leave.
