Married at First Sight Chapter 1398

Chapter 1398
“Mom,” Clive and Elisa called out to Mrs. Stone.
Mr. Stone also disagreed with his wife’s decision to stay. He said, “We can’t accomplish anything by remaining in the hospital. Let’s all go home and take care of what still needs to be done.”
“I’m worried!”
Mrs. Stone’s voice quivered as she spoke.
She shared Serenity’s concern for her niece, feeling just as anxious as Serenity was about her sister.
“Aunt Audrey, please go home and rest. I’ll inform you as soon as my sister wakes up.”
Serenity helped persuade Mrs. Stone to leave.
After all, Mrs. Stone was getting older.
Eventually, after much coaxing from everyone, she agreed to leave the hospital.
In the end, only Zachary, Serenity, and Duncan remained behind.
“Duncan, you and Josh still have a lot to handle together. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know when Liberty wakes up.” Zachary knew his friend was concerned about his sister-in-law. He patted Duncan’s shoulder and added, “I’m counting on you and Josh to wrap things up.”
Duncan glanced at the ICU ward. He wanted to be with Liberty, but she was currently in the ward. Even Serenity couldn’t care for her sister at that moment, let alone him.
After a lengthy silence, Duncan looked at Sonny again.
Sonny had fallen asleep in Serenity’s arms, yet still subconsciously clutched her shirt. What occurred today would leave a lasting trauma for the three-year-old.
Duncan felt a pang of sympathy for Sonny.
“Let me know if anything happens. I’ll handle the follow-up for now.”
“Okay.”
Duncan took a deep breath, glanced at the ward once more, and then turned to leave.
If they wanted Liberty and Sonny to be safe and secure, they needed to…

To ensure they could live like ordinary people in the future without the fear of such incidents recurring, it was imperative that they handled this situation effectively. Zachary instructed his bodyguard to go out and bring back some fast food. He then asked his driver to take the RV to the hospital, making it easier to prepare food for Sonny.

After giving his orders, Zachary sat beside Serenity. He wanted to hold Sonny, but as soon as he reached out, the little boy became frightened and clung tightly to Serenity’s shirt.

“Sonny, don’t be scared. I’m here,” Zachary reassured him.

Serenity quickly embraced Sonny, gently patting him. She then lowered her head and rested her forehead against his, which had a calming effect that helped soothe him.

“I should carry him; he’s clearly scared,” Zachary remarked.

Respecting Sonny’s fear, Zachary refrained from trying to hold him again. Instead, he removed his suit jacket and draped it over Sonny.

He then wrapped his arm around Serenity’s shoulder, offering comfort. “Seren, Liberty will be fine. Try not to worry too much.”

“Why did I have to return to my hometown today? If I hadn’t gone back…” Serenity lamented.

Even if she hadn’t gone home, she would have been at her bookstore.

Sonny had started school that day, and Jim was responsible for picking him up and dropping him off.

“Seren, even if you hadn’t gone back, you couldn’t have protected Liberty when the incident occurred. We were prepared to safeguard her, but she was still harmed… We didn’t protect her as we should have.”
