“I’m wherever she is. I’ll go pick up my wife now,” he said before hanging up on Josh.
Josh had intended to remind Zachary that the Soxes owned two fierce hounds. These dogs typically only barked unless provoked, at which point they would charge if someone attempted to break into the property.
During the day, the Soxes would keep the hounds on a leash, but at night, they were free to roam. However, the yard’s gate was locked to prevent the dogs from frightening passersby.
The pets made excellent watchdogs.
The Sox family’s neighbors also had dogs.
Before Wiltspoon experienced rapid growth, the Soxes’ home was situated in a rural area. Although the name of the place remained the same, the Soxes’ surroundings had transformed into a bustling town capable of rivaling a major city.
The locals were affluent.
The Sox family, being locals themselves, profited from the rental industry. Despite this, they maintained a low profile and lived like an ordinary family, each holding nine-to-five jobs.
After confirming that his wife was at the Soxes’ home, Zachary informed Jim and the other bodyguards to stay behind. He drove himself to the Soxes’ residence.
Although feeling sleepy, Serenity tossed and turned, keeping an eye out for any sudden movements from the dogs in the yard.
Understanding the situation, Jasmine said, “The dogs will bark when Zachary arrives. Don’t think about him, Seren. Get some sleep. You didn’t rest well last night.”
“I’m not thinking about him. Jasmine, I’ve decided to stay with you for a few days.”
Serenity refused to admit that the infuriating man occupied her thoughts.
Jasmine smiled. “Alright, I believe you. Just try to sleep. Stop tossing and turning; you’re like a pancake flipping in a pan.”
