happening, she turned to Zachary with curiosity.
“Do you want to go horse riding?” Zachary asked, keeping his focus on the road as he drove.
Eager to enjoy a date with his wife, he had chosen to drive himself instead of bringing along the chauffeur.
The security convoy maintained a respectful distance behind them.
“I don’t know how to ride,” Serenity admitted honestly.
Zachary smiled, “I can teach you. The weather is perfect for riding—not too hot, not too cold. I’ll take you to the family stable.”
“Your family has a horse stable too?” she asked, intrigued.
“My family is your family,” he replied warmly. “Don’t be a stranger. We have many horses at our stable, and a lot of people who love riding visit us regularly.”
The equestrian facility had proven to be quite profitable, attracting those who were passionate about horseback riding.
“Dylan manages the operation. He loves horses and is thriving in the equestrian business. We can expect a significant profit each quarter,” Zachary explained.
Serenity recalled Dylan as a cheerful boy, his sun-kissed skin likely a result of racing through the wind on horseback.
“Now that you mention it, I really want to see the stable. But you can’t laugh at me if I struggle with riding,” she said, a hint of concern in her voice.
“I’ll teach you. Just take your time,” Zachary reassured her.
“Okay,” she replied.
Serenity stifled another yawn, then closed her eyes and said, “I’m going to catch up on some sleep. Wake me when we arrive, babe.”
“Get some rest,” Zachary encouraged.
As Serenity began to drift off, she mumbled, “I’ve been feeling tired lately. I wonder if it’s due to the change in weather.” Suddenly, Zachary stopped the car at the side of the road.
“What’s wrong?” Serenity asked, thinking something was amiss. She opened her eyes and sat up to look out the window, but seeing that everything was fine, she turned back to Zachary, puzzled.
As she continued, Serenity turned to Zachary, puzzled by his decision to stop at the side of the road.
“Seren, have you been feeling unusually tired lately, as if you can barely keep your eyes open? Do you feel like sleeping even though you just woke up?”
Serenity paused to consider his questions before responding, “I don’t feel tired; I just feel sleepy. It’s probably due to the change in weather. I’ve experienced this before. Why do you ask? You look serious. Are you worried that I’m sick? Something serious?”
Zachary tapped his finger lightly on her head.
“That’s nonsense. I just thought you might have similar symptoms to those of early pregnancy.”
Serenity raised an eyebrow. “So, you think I’m pregnant?”
Zachary didn’t mask his feelings. “I secretly asked my mom about how women feel when they first get pregnant. I wanted to be prepared for when you start showing symptoms.”
Serenity opened her mouth to respond, but no words came out.
What happened to going with the flow? He had clearly done his research.
“No, I need to take you for a physical examination at the hospital. We can’t go horse riding if you’re pregnant. We can always go another day if you’re not.” By the time they finished at the hospital, it would likely be too dark to head to the stable.
Serenity was speechless.
It took a comment from her for Zachary to insist on taking her to the hospital.
Serenity could simply take a urine test to determine if she was pregnant.
The result was negative.
