Chapter 1347
The man turned and swung a fist at Callum’s face.
Callum dodged the blow and countered with a punch of his own. The man jerked his head to the side, narrowly avoiding the hit.
Space was extremely limited inside the car, significantly restricting the man’s range of motion. Despite his efforts to fight Callum off, it was an uphill battle since he was seated while Callum stood over him.
Fueled by rage, Callum was relentless.
Minutes later, Callum delivered a brutal beatdown to the degenerate. After ensuring there was no further resistance, he dragged the man out of the car and threw him to the ground for a closer look, aided by the streetlights.
The degenerate’s face was so battered that he was unrecognizable. His face was swollen, and his nose was broken. The only clue Callum could glean was that the man appeared to be in his forties or fifties.
“How dare you hurt Camryn! I’ll kill you!”
Callum jabbed a kick at the degenerate and shouted, “Camryn is my sister-in-law’s friend; messing with her means you’re messing with my family!”
The man remained silent.
He hadn’t uttered a word since their confrontation began.
Callum then pulled the keys from the ignition and slammed the door shut to prevent the man from escaping.
Next, he took out his phone to snap a picture of the man’s face. That way, even if the scum managed to escape, he would still have photographic evidence to give to Josh to help identify him.
After taking a clear picture, he kicked the degenerate again before running off in the direction where Camryn was last seen.
Camryn was running desperately, as fast as her
way to hit him?”
Camryn felt a rush of frustration at Callum’s logic, but she knew he was right. Panic surged through her as she thought about the danger still lurking nearby.
“Why did you follow me?” she asked, her voice trembling.
“I was worried about you,” Callum replied, concern etched on his face. “You ran off without a word after refusing to go home. I couldn’t just leave you out here alone.”
“Thank you, I guess,” she replied, still scanning the area for any signs of movement.
“Let’s get you out of here,” Callum urged, taking her hand to help her regain her footing. “Stay close to me.”
Together, they moved cautiously through the dense trees, Camryn relying on Callum’s presence to guide her. She felt a flicker of hope; perhaps she wouldn’t have to face this nightmare alone after all.
“Miracle?” Camryn fell silent. “Let’s go; we can discuss it later.” Callum couldn’t bring himself to lecture her when he noticed the pain in her expression. She was unable to see. Taking two steps forward, he bent down and lifted Camryn into his arms in one fluid motion. “Mr. Callum, I can walk on my own,” she protested. Not accustomed to being carried by a man, she immediately attempted to free herself. “You’re not wearing your shoes, so forget about walking. By the time you reach my car, it’ll be morning. I don’t have the patience to watch the sunrise with you.” Callum dismissed her objections and continued to carry her.
