Chapter 1328
Despite the numerous gowns designed in that style, they simply did not appeal to them.
The York men preferred to dress their women in a way that left no part of their arms exposed.
At that moment, Camryn’s appearance was so striking that it made others want to take a bite out of her.
“Ms. Newman looks absolutely beautiful tonight,”
Callum complimented Camryn before turning back to the Newman couple. “Mr. and Mrs. Newman, I just spotted an acquaintance and will go greet him. Please head inside; many of the bosses are already here.”
“Please do, Mr. York,” Mr. Newman replied politely.
He noticed the admiration in Callum’s eyes when he first looked at Camryn. However, Callum only glanced at her twice, praised her, and then averted his gaze. It was evident that he was not captivated by Camryn.
Mr. Newman thought that if Camryn could intrigue Callum, he would gladly give her to him, hoping Callum would advocate for Carrie. Serenity would undoubtedly show leniency towards Carrie for the sake of her brother-in-law.
What a disappointment; even the enchanting Camryn could not ensnare Callum’s interest.
They were left with no choice but to proceed with their plan to arrange for Camryn to be introduced to a man from the hosting family of the banquet, the Marshalls. Ideally, he would be someone of prominence within the family.
The Marshalls and Yorks had a longstanding friendship.
Even the young masters of the York family were present at Old Mr. Marshall’s banquet, indicating that the bond between the two families was stronger than many believed.
Mr. and Mrs. Newman intended to ask the Marshall family for assistance in their endeavors.
After Callum departed, the Newman family entered the hotel, guided by the staff.
Callum had merely been making an excuse earlier, but unexpectedly, he did indeed spot someone familiar.
Josh arrived with his fiancée, Jasmine.
His car pulled up in front of the hotel, and he stepped out.
Jasmine instructed the driver to park in the basement parking lot before stepping out of the car. Josh had always driven himself, but tonight he had a driver so he wouldn’t have to worry about driving under the influence. As handsome as ever, Josh was accompanied by a beautifully dressed Jasmine. She had attended previous banquets with Serenity, so she was familiar with the venue.
Upon exiting the car, Jasmine lifted her gown to enter the hotel, wondering if Serenity and Elisa had already arrived.
“Jasmine,” Josh called out as he stepped out of the car, noticing his fiancée starting to enter the hotel without him. He quickly rushed to stop her; had he waited any longer, he would have appeared like a sad man left behind.
Jasmine turned to him and asked, “What is it?”
Josh was at a loss for words. “Don’t you think you should wait for me?”
“You know the way. This place should feel as familiar to you as home,” she replied.
Without missing a beat, Josh walked over, wrapped an arm around Jasmine’s waist, and whispered in her ear, “Ms. Sox, remember that you’re my date tonight! Important things should be repeated three times: you’re my date. You’re my date. You’re my date!”
“How can you just go in without waiting for me? Hold my arm. Can’t you see other couples doing the same?” he urged.
Jasmine gently removed his hand from her waist, then took his hand and intertwined their fingers. “Let’s go. I’ll take you inside with me.”
She felt compelled to do this to prevent him from feeling resentful.
