Serenity sighed again, reflecting on her fortune. Although her husband had a tendency to throw tantrums, he treated her well. He never raised a hand against her, and she felt secure knowing he would not cheat on her.

She recalled Grandma May mentioning that since Serenity had saved her life, she would never introduce a bad grandson to her.

“Mrs. Lewis has already helped select a potential wife for Mr. Lewis. Her name is Ms. Lily Harmon. She is young and beautiful, but she also appears to be intelligent and capable. Zachary remarked while eating, “It’s because Mrs. Lewis has tried to force a match for Duncan several times that he shamelessly stays in our house.”
He was not concerned about the woman’s name.
There was no reason for him to know.
She was not a candidate for his wife.

“Is it still Ms. Harmon? I expected it to be someone different.”

An arrogant person like Mrs. Lewis wouldn’t casually engage your sister in conversation, even if she was just passing by.” After Audrey hosted a banquet for her two nieces, Mrs. Lewis showed little interest in Liberty that evening, and they did not cross paths again afterward. Why would Mrs. Lewis stop to chat with Liberty simply because she happened to be nearby?
“Is Mrs. Lewis going to ruin my sister’s store? Will she write a check for five million and then tell my sister to take the money and leave Mr. Lewis behind forever?”

“If we didn’t exist and your sister were genuinely trying to pursue Duncan, Mrs. Lewis would hire someone to vandalize her store. Then, she would forcefully drive your sister away without giving her a single penny,” Zachary explained. “However, Mrs. Lewis won’t take such action because we’re here. I’m good friends with Duncan, and you’re my wife as well as a member of the York family. No matter how displeased Mrs. Lewis may be, there’s nothing she can do. Plus, you have your aunt for support.”
“Even if Liberty likes Duncan, Mrs. Lewis would at most approach your sister to have a conversation. She would directly tell your sister that she cannot accept her as a daughter-in-law.”
