Married at First Sight Chapter 1299

Chapter 1299
Zachary read the documents three times before carefully organizing the papers and returning them to the file. He then handed the file to Julian and expressed his gratitude.
“I never expected them to use the Yates girl,” Zachary commented coldly.
“Liberty mentioned it to me because she found it odd. That made me think. It was indeed strange. She never wanted Hank to see Sonny before, but now she is friendly with both Hank and Sonny.”
They suspected that Mr. Newman and his wife were involved, as well as someone Zachary had offended. Surprisingly, Jessica turned out to be the pawn in this situation.
Since the Browns were related by blood to Sonny, their attempts to be nice to him didn’t raise any suspicions.
“They’re not trying to get back at you, Mr. York. Their target is your wife, but you have her surrounded by security. Your wife is capable of defending herself as well. They wouldn’t act in broad daylight given your status and power. That’s likely why they aimed to reach your wife through her nephew.”
“As far as I know, your wife practically raised her nephew. She has a close bond with him, so she would likely comply with their demands to meet privately if her nephew were to fall into their hands.”
Now that Julian understood the full situation, he had to admit that these individuals were skilled at psychological manipulation.
“They attempted to use your wife’s relatives, but probably abandoned that idea because her relatives were unreliable and couldn’t deliver results.”
Serenity’s relatives were all talk and no action; they were powerless against influential individuals.
The Hunts had tried to replace Serenity as Mrs. York with a counterfeit version, but that…

turned out to be a failure. Serenity discovered their plan, and Zachary thwarted it. Harriet, who underwent surgery, altered her face to resemble that of another cousin. The cousin’s husband mistook Harriet for his wife, resulting in a commotion. Since then, Harriet and the cousin had turned against each other. Now, Harriet needed to undergo another plastic surgery.

In any case, the Hunts proved to be ineffective. They caused more harm than good.

“I’ll provide the police with information about these individuals tomorrow. The authorities will take care of the arrests. However, these people are cunning; I doubt they can all be captured at once. Just watch your backs for now, Mr. York.”

Julian withheld the documents from Zachary for safety reasons. It was time to hand the case over to the police, as these individuals were formerly associated with a crime lord, and their records were far from clean.

“Thank you, Julian. We’ll be cautious,” Zachary replied, expressing his gratitude.

Julian smiled and reassured him, “Don’t worry too much. I won’t let anything happen to you. They may try again in the coming days, likely during the upcoming holiday when crowds will provide them with the perfect cover to strike and flee.”

“Just continue with your plans. They may be watching you, but I have people keeping an eye on them too.”

Julian’s words provided Zachary with reassurance, and he expressed his appreciation to Julian multiple times.

“It’s not like we just met, Mr. York. No need to mention it. You and Josh are best friends, which makes you my friend too.”

Josh chimed in with enthusiasm, “You should thank me, Zachary. I asked my cousin to help you.”

“Thank you,” Zachary replied to Josh.

He grinned. “Is that all? Can’t you offer me something more? How about an extra month off for my marital leave?”

Zachary replied, “Aren’t two months sufficient? Are you really considering quitting your job just because you’re getting married?”

“It’s only two months. Make it three. I’d even be happy with two and a half months.”

Zachary looked at him in resignation.
