Chapter 1293
“Boss, go have dinner with Mr. Callum. I’ll watch the shop,” the employee offered with a smile as Camryn and Callum exited the store.
Callum waited in the car for Camryn. Despite her blindness, she navigated her familiar surroundings with confidence.
This was Camryn’s first time riding with Callum. She found her way to the seat, settled in, stowed her cane, and buckled her seatbelt.
She chose the passenger seat, not out of preference, but because Callum insisted she sit there instead of the back, which would have made it seem like he was her chauffeur.
Since Camryn wouldn’t dare boss a York around like a driver, she complied and took the passenger seat.
Although the passenger seat wasn’t the safest option, it was reassuring that Callum was a careful driver. He wasn’t one to speed, which made her feel somewhat secure during the ride.
“Where are we going for dinner?” Callum asked as he started the engine.
“I usually order takeaway, but I find the food at Exotic Flavors quite good. Let’s go there.” She was comfortable covering the cost, so Callum could order whatever he liked.
Camryn wanted to be generous since she was treating him.
“Alright,” he agreed.
Exotic Flavors was just a five-minute drive away.
They arrived at the restaurant before Callum could ask about the social event.
“Let’s look for a table on the first floor,” Callum suggested, knowing that it would be difficult for Camryn to navigate stairs. He didn’t want to risk startling her by trying to carry her upstairs, which could result in a slap and being called an *sshole.
Camryn smiled and replied, “You can decide.”
After Callum led them to a table,
As Camryn entered the restaurant, the server warmly guided her to a table away from the crowd.
“Mr. Callum, feel free to order more tonight,” she said.
Camryn patted her pocket, having brought extra cash this time.
With a smile, Callum replied, “We won’t order much since it’s just the two of us. We can stick to about the same amount as last time.”
While he did help bring business to Camryn, he wasn’t the type to play tricks on her. Callum knew he had to keep her engaged, so she would willingly let him benefit from her for life.
Timing was key; he didn’t want to rush things.
Camryn had given Callum the green light to order anything from the menu, so it was his choice if he decided otherwise.
Besides, she had done her part to cover the bill.
After placing their food order, Callum inquired, “Why does your mom want to take you to the event tomorrow?”
As far as he knew, Mrs. Newman preferred to keep her distance from Camryn, never wanting her to socialize in case she overshadowed Carrie.
Carrie had been caught by authorities for hiring people to harm his sister-in-law, Serenity, who had proof to send Carrie away.
Mrs. Newman must despise both Callum’s sister-in-law and Camryn, believing Camryn was the cause of all that had happened.
“God knows what she’s up to,” Camryn mused, sensing her mother might be plotting against her, although nothing had transpired so far. For all she knew, her mother could be considering selling her off.
“Are you going? Your mom seems pretty insistent. She’ll make you go even if you don’t want to,” Callum said.
Just then, as Callum reached for Camryn’s sunglasses, she was startled.
Quickly, she snatched the sunglasses from his hands and put them back on.
