Chapter 1292
“Either way, I’m sending someone to pick you up tomorrow afternoon if you don’t come home. You’re going with me tomorrow night, no matter what.”
Camryn remained distant as she responded, “I can’t see, Mom. What do you mean by seeing the world? To me, the world is just darkness. There’s nothing for me to see.”
“You!”
Fuming, Mrs. Newman felt an overwhelming urge to slap Camryn.
“I’ve said my piece. You can choose to listen or ignore it. Regardless, I’m sending a car for you tomorrow afternoon. I’m busy, so I have to go.”
Mrs. Newman struggled to connect with Camryn. Each time she saw her daughter’s face, resentment and hatred surged within her. Now that she had said what she needed to, Mrs. Newman added, “I’m sorry you had to witness that, Callum. My daughter lost her confidence after losing her sight.”
“I want to take her to the party and help her regain her confidence. I need to attend to business now, so I’ll be on my way.”
Callum replied, “Sure. Goodbye, Mrs. Newman.”
Mrs. Newman shot Camryn an angry glance before leaving with her bodyguards.

As her mother’s footsteps faded, Camryn told her employee, “There’s no need to wrap the roses.”
The employee was puzzled; she thought Mr. Callum wanted to purchase flowers.
Mr. Callum even mentioned that the flowers were for his fiancée.
“Oh, go ahead and wrap them. I really want the roses,” Camryn said.
Callum instructed the employee to prepare the flowers.
“Mr. Callum?”
Camryn assumed Callum was merely protecting her by keeping her mother unaware of their prior acquaintance.
“I’m interested in buying a bouquet,” he stated.
Since Callum had expressed interest, Camryn decided not to turn down the business opportunity and sold him the bouquet.
Once the bouquet was prepared, Callum paid for it and picked up the flowers, saying, “Let’s go, Ms. Newman.”
“Huh?” Camryn replied, confused.
Callum chuckled and reminded her, “What? Aren’t you going to buy me dinner anymore? I’m hungry.”
“Haha. I’m sorry; it completely slipped my mind. After you, Mr. Callum.”
Her mother’s arrival interrupted her thoughts.
Camryn pondered what her mother had planned for her this time.
Was her mother attempting to embarrass her at the party or sell her off to an older man for a boost in the family business?
Although Camryn no longer yearned for her mother’s affection, she struggled to understand why her mother treated her so harshly.
Camryn grabbed her cane and addressed her employee, “I’m treating Mr. Callum to dinner. Please watch the shop and order some food for yourselves. Business was good today, so you and Louise can enjoy a nice meal.”
They usually opted for the cheapest takeaway.
Now that the business was thriving and turning a profit, Camryn felt it was only fair for her employees to have better meals.
