Married at First Sight Chapter 1265

Chapter 1265

“You don’t need to worry about Liberty, nor should you search for her, as that would make you seem insecure. I’ll handle the situation. I’m Duncan’s mother, and it’s understandable that I can’t accept a divorcee as my daughter-in-law.”

Mrs. Lewis was concerned that Lily might confront Liberty and provoke Duncan’s anger, leading him to dislike her.

She continued, “From now on, just focus on pursuing Duncan. I’ll take care of Liberty for you. After all, I’m Duncan’s mom, and he won’t go against me.”

While driving, Lily remarked, “Mrs. Lewis, are you planning to confront Liberty now? I think Duncan shows kindness toward her son, but he doesn’t seem overly concerned about Liberty herself. Perhaps we’re overthinking this.”

“Maybe Duncan simply likes Liberty’s son,” she continued. “I saw him, and he’s quite smart and adorable. There’s nothing unusual about Liberty renting Duncan’s store to open a breakfast diner; as long as she pays the rent, she’s just a tenant.”

“Additionally, Liberty is Mr. York’s sister-in-law, and Mr. York and Duncan are good friends. It’s possible Duncan is only looking out for her on Mr. York’s behalf.”

Lily was wary of Liberty but was not as impulsive as Mrs. Lewis, who was eager to confront Liberty and demand she stay away from Duncan.

“You’re too kind, Lily. It’s best if Duncan and Liberty haven’t started anything yet. I’ll investigate Liberty to ensure she doesn’t have any ulterior motives. You don’t need to worry; I know what to do.”

Mrs. Lewis then took out her phone and snapped a picture of Lily.

“Why are you taking a picture of me?” Lily asked.

Mrs. Lewis smiled. “Because I’ll find a use for it, of course. I’ll get a studio to print these photos. Don’t worry, I won’t harm you. Just drop me off at All You Can Eat later, and then you can—”

“Head over to Lewis & Co. to find Duncan,” Lily said, humming as she accepted Mrs. Lewis’s arrangement.

Once the store had only a few customers left, and after her son had left along with Serenity and Sonny, Mrs. Lewis finally walked into All You Can Eat.

The diner was small but brightly decorated. Liberty and her two employees worked diligently to keep the place clean and tidy.

A restaurant’s environment is crucial; good hygiene encourages customers to stay and eat, while poor cleanliness can drive them away.

Liberty had previously met Mrs. Lewis at a business banquet. Just after finishing her breakfast, she noticed Mrs. Lewis entering and quickly set down her spoon to approach her.

“Mrs. Lewis,” she greeted.

During the banquet, Mrs. Lewis had not made eye contact with Liberty, but this time she smiled warmly. “I was on my way to the office to find Duncan when I saw you here and decided to come in.”

“I heard from your aunt that you started your own business. Did you open this breakfast diner?” Mrs. Lewis inquired. “How is business?”

Liberty invited Mrs. Lewis to take a seat and was about to pour her a glass of water when the woman stopped her. “There’s no need for that, Liberty. I’m not thirsty; I just came in to have a look.”

“Have you eaten, Mrs. Lewis?” Liberty asked.

Mrs. Lewis hummed in response.

Knowing that Mrs. Lewis was quite particular, Liberty refrained from preparing breakfast for her since she claimed to have already eaten.

“Business is going well. We have companies and factories nearby, so staff often come here for breakfast before work. After the morning rush, those finishing their graveyard shifts also dine here,” Liberty explained, smiling as she shared more about the diner.

The store was doing well. Mrs. Lewis nodded and said, “You have a keen sense to open a breakfast diner here, but your cooking skills are also a big factor. Without them, business wouldn’t be thriving, especially with so many eateries on this street.” The competition was intense, so the owners had to depend on their abilities. Liberty replied modestly, “I just prepare simple dishes. I’m happy as long as business is good.” “What’s the monthly rent for this store?” Mrs. Lewis asked, appearing casual.
