Chapter 1243
Callum’s secretary glanced at the bouquet Camryn was holding and said kindly, “Please hold on for a moment. I’ll check with Mr. Callum.”
Since the secretary had not received any updates, he needed to confirm with Callum before he could allow Camryn to enter.
“Of course.”
Camryn stood quietly, waiting for the secretary to use the intercom to reach Callum.
Soon, he approached her and said warmly, “You can come with me now.”
“Thank you.”
Camryn expressed her gratitude to the secretary as she followed him.
When they arrived at his office, the secretary knocked on the door and went in to announce Camryn’s arrival.
“Let her in.”
Callum, still busy, responded in a deep voice without looking up.
The secretary invited Camryn into the office before stepping back.
Camryn listened carefully to determine the direction of Callum’s voice as he spoke to the secretary.
Upon entering the office, she walked straight toward him.
She navigated around obstacles, and although she moved slowly, she eventually reached Callum’s desk.
She knew she had arrived at his desk when her cane accidentally tapped Callum’s foot beneath it. She quickly pulled back the cane.
Callum only looked up after feeling the tap from her cane.
“Why did you take so long? I was just about to leave work,”
Callum remarked, complaining about Camryn’s delay as he opened his mouth.
Camryn fumbled to lean her white cane against his desk, then handed the bouquet to Callum, saying apologetically, “I can’t see, so I walk slower than usual. That’s why I’m late. Here’s the bouquet you requested over the phone.”
“Tell me, how did you get here?”
Callum took the flowers and casually set them on the table. He wasn’t fond of flowers; he was merely looking for an excuse for Camryn to come over.
“I had one of my assistants drive me to the entrance of the office building, and then I walked in myself.”
“No one guided you here?”
“No, I simply asked for directions to your office from the entrance.”
Callum hummed thoughtfully, looking at her for a moment before gently saying, “Please, have a seat.”
Huh?
Camryn was somewhat taken aback. She had assumed Callum would let her leave after she delivered the bouquet and received payment.
“Since you’re here, you might as well sit down for some water.”
As he spoke, Callum stood up, walked around the desk, and poured a cup of warm water for Camryn.
Camryn felt around for a chair and carefully sat down. She quickly thanked Callum as he handed her the cup of warm water.
“If I ask you not to let your assistant drive you here, can you take a car to my company instead?” Callum inquired as he settled back in his chair.
Camryn paused before replying, “Is there a bus that stops in front of your company?”
“Yes, there are several buses that pass by the entrance of my company.”
“If someone can drop me off at the bus stop, I can reach your company without needing my assistant to bring me.”
After studying her for a moment, Callum pursed his lips and said, “Try coming by yourself next time. Tell your employee to stop Bus No. 6 for you; that one goes to my company.”
Camryn remained silent for a moment before asking, “Mr. York, did I somehow offend you?”
