Married at First Sight Chapter 1234

Chapter 1234
For both personal and professional reasons, Duncan couldn’t tell Lily to leave.
“I guess you haven’t had breakfast yet, Duncan,” she said.
Lily moved closer with a smile and placed the food containers on Duncan’s desk. “Mrs. Lewis asked me to bring these to you. She mentioned that you often sleep in and wake up late, so you don’t have time to eat. When she learned I was coming to see you, she insisted I bring you breakfast.”
“I just saw you driving to a diner called All You Can Eat. Do you usually have breakfast there?”
Lily thought she should try the food there sometime. Was it really that good?
She wondered if Duncan was at the diner for the food or for the owner.
“Ms. Harmon, my schedule is packed today, so I can’t discuss a partnership right now. I have a meeting starting shortly.”
“I’ll schedule a time with the secretary later. We can talk business when you’re free. What time is your meeting?”
“Nine o’clock.”
Lily glanced at the clock. There were ten minutes left.
With a playful smile, she opened the lids of the food containers and placed the dishes in front of Duncan one by one.
“Ten minutes should be enough for you to eat. You should really dig in. This is Mrs. Lewis’s way of showing her love for you. Don’t refuse her kind gesture.”
Lily had prepared the food herself.
However, she didn’t mention she was the chef; instead, she implied that Mrs. Lewis had arranged for the breakfast to be delivered.
Since she spoke of a mother’s love and Duncan was hungry, he gladly accepted the food and devoured the meal in just a few minutes.
“Do we have a new chef at home?”
Setting down his utensils, Duncan took a napkin and wiped his mouth.
Lily poured him a glass of water.
Duncan thanked her and took a sip.

the glass for a few sips.”

“Could you tell?” Lily asked with a grin. “What do you think of the new chef’s performance?”

“Not bad,” he replied. Still, he preferred Liberty’s cooking, which impressed him with its flavor derived from the simplest ingredients.

Liberty’s food took Duncan back to his youthful days spent wandering the streets with his friends. During that time, he savored a variety of street foods he would never have experienced as the son of the Lewis family. While those years brought him considerable pain, they also grounded him.

Even after becoming a CEO, he remained humble. He was no different from the average person, apart from his higher income.

“All that matters is that the food tastes good to you,” Lily said with a smile. She glanced at the time before clearing the food containers and reminded him, “Your meeting is about to start, Duncan. I’m going to report to Mrs. Lewis that the mission was accomplished. By the way, she hopes you can make it home for lunch. If not, she mentioned there’s an event in a few days that she would like you to attend with her.”

Lily would be accompanying Mrs. Lewis as well. Mrs. Lewis aimed to introduce her to the ladies of high society in Wiltspoon. Serenity would likely be attending the event with Mrs. Stone.

Mrs. Lewis noted that Mrs. Stone had been quite active in the social circle lately and would likely respond positively to any invitations. It seemed she was trying to help Serenity break into that exclusive group.

No one would want to incur the wrath of Mrs. Stone, the matriarch of the Stone household. Additionally, Mrs. Stone had once been a significant player in the business world before her retirement.

Furrowing his brows, Duncan said, “Why does she want me to attend with her? Can I trouble…?”

“Could you accompany my mom if you have the time? I really can’t be bothered with social gatherings.”
