Married at First Sight Chapter 1231

Chapter 1231
Cradling Serenity in his arms, Zachary affectionately said, “I can make time once I finish my current tasks. I’ll take you to visit Ben and his wife. Ben shares his mom’s last name as well.”
Zachary leaned in and whispered in Serenity’s ear, “You’re the heroine of a story too, darling. Everyone wishes they could be you.”
Serenity playfully nudged him away. He always whispered sweet nothings in her ear, his warm breath sending shivers through her, tempting her with thoughts of intimacy.
After delivering the eggs and poultry to Liberty, the couple returned to their home at Brynfield.
Mrs. Lane was at their house.
She had brought along the couple’s pets, having cared for them while they were away, and was now back at Brynfield.
As soon as the door opened, Snowball came bounding in, tail wagging enthusiastically.
Serenity was taken aback. Upon closer inspection, she squatted down to pet Snowball’s head and exclaimed to Zachary, “How did Snowball get so big?”
Zachary wasn’t particularly fond of small animals. He only allowed pets in the house because of his deep affection for Serenity. He had given her Snowball and two cats when she expressed a desire for pets.
Snowball relished the attention as Serenity petted its head, while Zachary stood a distance away, wary of being covered in fur.
“Mrs. Lane has really taken good care of them. Snowball seems to be getting fatter by the day.”
“The cats are getting chubby too. The three of them look like the three little pigs.”
Standing up, Serenity retorted, “Snowball has a name. It’s not just a thing. You’re not being very kind to Snowball.”
Zachary pursed his lips in response. “Alright, it’s Snowball, not just a thing.”
Mrs. Lane greeted the couple with a warm smile.
“Please put these in the freezer, Mrs. Lane.”
Zachary handed the prepared free-range chicken from his mother to Mrs. Lane.
Mrs. Lane accepted it eagerly.

The bag was examined before someone remarked, “You bought a lot of chickens, sir.”
“I didn’t buy them. The missus bought them and let them roam in the orchard.”
Mrs. Lane figured out what was happening there and then.
Serenity brought Snowball over to sit with Zachary, who gave the dog a glance. While Snowball was oblivious to hints, Serenity was not. She was well aware of Zachary’s dislike for furry animals.
She gently patted Snowball’s head and gestured for him to go rest.
Snowball turned around and walked away.
“Is Nana home yet?” Serenity asked.
“The old missus went with Mr. Kevin on his business trip to Jensburg.”
Serenity blinked in surprise. Why was Nana going on a business trip with Kevin at her age?
Jensburg? That reminded her. The woman Nana had chosen for Kevin was in Jensburg; she was the oldest son of the Queen Enterprise there.
It became clear why Grandma May accompanied Kevin to Jensburg. Kevin’s lack of response must have prompted her to create an opportunity for him to meet with Hayden.
York Corporation owned two hotels and a commercial mall in Jensburg. Kevin managed the food and beverage side of the family business, and since the mall was close to the hotel, he also oversaw its operations.
The Yorks operated five-star hotels, so Hayden had likely been to them before. However, there was no way of knowing if she had ever met Kevin.
“Why didn’t she tell us she was going away with Kevin?” Serenity asked.
“I wanted to go along and join the fun too.”
She was eager to accompany Grandma May and catch up on the latest gossip about everyone.
Tilting his head, Zachary looked at his wife and playfully tapped her forehead. “Nana is a bad influence on you,” he said with amusement.
“Nana isn’t bad at all.”

“She is the best grandmother in the world.”
