“Do you remember asking Ms. Sox for a truckload of poultry? They were raised in the orchard near the estate and laid plenty of eggs. My mom always said that nothing beats homegrown eggs, so she told me to collect them. She also prepped a few birds for me to take with me.”
“I stopped by and picked some flowers from the garden.”
Serenity replied, “I completely forgot about that…”
She had done something foolish when he placed her under house arrest after she discovered his true identity. Serenity had a truckload of poultry dumped near the estate without giving it a second thought.
“My mom insists that free-range chickens are tastier, so she wanted me to bring you some. It’s just the three of us—Nana included—and I doubt we can eat them all. I’ll give some to Liberty later.” Zachary always remembered to include his sister-in-law when it came to sharing the good stuff.
Serenity appreciated this; he cared for and respected the people who mattered to her.

“Oh, please. We’re practically an old married couple at this point. We got our marriage license ages ago. I don’t need a proposal.”
