Married at First Sight Chapter 1228

Chapter 1228
Unable to wait any longer, Serenity decided to call Zachary.
The phone rang, but Zachary did not answer.
“Is he really jealous?” she murmured to herself as she ended the call.
She set her phone on the cash register and sat in silence for a moment before retrieving her crafting tools. With nothing else to do, she figured she might as well work on her crafts.
Just as Serenity began her project, a bouquet of flowers appeared in front of her.
Looking up, she met Zachary’s piercing gaze.
“You… Why didn’t you answer your phone? At least respond to your text messages.”
Putting her crafting aside, Serenity accepted the bouquet and sighed.
Zachary looked deeply into her eyes and explained, “I’m here now, so I didn’t take the call. I was busy during the day to leave work early today.”
Noticing she had finished a miniature tree, he picked up the copper wire creation to examine it.
“Didn’t you hire help? Don’t overwork yourself. You need to take care of your hands.”
Zachary set down the miniature tree and took her once-injured hand in his. Although the injury had healed, a scar remained as a reminder of her carelessness. He gently caressed the scar, his eyes reflecting concern.
She had been hurt because of him.
“The flowers are fresh.”
Not wanting Zachary to feel guilty, Serenity withdrew her arm and changed the subject. “Didn’t Mr. Bucham buy out all the roses from every florist in Wiltspoon?”
Since Josh needed a large quantity of flowers for his proposal, Serenity assumed that all the florists in Wiltspoon would be out of roses.
“I was late because of these flowers.”
Serenity looked at him in disbelief. “Don’t tell me you went home to cut these flowers?”
Zachary affectionately tapped her button nose and

gave her scarlet lips a quick pinch before replying, “You’ve got that wrong. My home is your home. That is our home.”

“Do you remember asking Ms. Sox for a truckload of poultry? They were raised in the orchard near the estate and laid plenty of eggs. My mom always said that nothing beats homegrown eggs, so she told me to collect them. She also prepped a few birds for me to take with me.”

“I stopped by and picked some flowers from the garden.”

Serenity replied, “I completely forgot about that…”

She had done something foolish when he placed her under house arrest after she discovered his true identity. Serenity had a truckload of poultry dumped near the estate without giving it a second thought.

“My mom insists that free-range chickens are tastier, so she wanted me to bring you some. It’s just the three of us—Nana included—and I doubt we can eat them all. I’ll give some to Liberty later.” Zachary always remembered to include his sister-in-law when it came to sharing the good stuff.

Serenity appreciated this; he cared for and respected the people who mattered to her.

“Mr. Bucham proposed to Jas.”

“I know.”

Zachary fixed her with a gaze, “Are you envious, honey? I could propose to you in public.”

“Oh, please. We’re practically an old married couple at this point. We got our marriage license ages ago. I don’t need a proposal.”

Zachary paused for a moment before saying, “I’ll give you the grandest wedding so you can be the envy of all women.”

“I’m already the envy of all women.”

As they reached the cash register, Zachary wrapped his arms around her from behind. Pressing his chest against her back, he whispered into her ear, unable to conceal the jealousy in his husky voice. “Why did Shawn come back? What did he say to you? I saw the look in his eyes when he…”

stared at you… Was it still as passionate as before?”
