Chapter 1219
After resolving the issue with her parents’ house, Serenity returned to the bookstore in high spirits.
To her surprise, she spotted Shawn, whom she hadn’t seen in quite some time.
Shawn had taken two days off before the weekend, giving him a total of four days to come home and visit his parents.
Upon learning that Serenity was not in the store, he came by to see his cousin.
Jasmine was unsure when Serenity would return. Shawn had just settled in to wait for a while and was about to leave when he ran into Serenity.
“Serenity.”
Shawn greeted her with a smile, just like he used to.
“Shawn?”
Serenity scanned Shawn from head to toe before politely inquiring, “When did you come back? It’s been a long time. You look much more mature and composed.”
“I just got back today. My mom hasn’t been feeling well, and the factory is relatively quiet, so I took two days off before the weekend to visit her. Yes, it’s been a while. You look even more beautiful than before.”
Serenity had always been attractive, but now, nourished by love, she resembled a flower in full bloom.
However, Shawn was well aware that this blossoming beauty only flourished for Zachary.
Although a significant amount of time had passed since they last met and Shawn had moved on from his feelings for Serenity, he couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy toward Zachary upon seeing her again.
“Is Aunt Rachel okay?” Serenity asked with concern, having heard that Rachel was unwell.
She turned to Jasmine, saying, “You didn’t mention anything.”
Jasmine replied, “It’s nothing serious. She just caught a cold. Sick people can be fragile, which is why they called Shawn, worrying him enough that he took time off work and rushed back to take her to a doctor. Aunt Rachel is resting now, so he’s out…
“About meeting some friends, he dropped by while passing through.”
Zachary’s bodyguards were present, and Jasmine was concerned that Zachary might misunderstand and think Shawn still had feelings for Serenity. To prevent this, she clarified Shawn’s presence on his behalf.
It was true that Shawn didn’t come for Serenity. Before arriving, he called Jasmine to inquire about Serenity and only entered when Jasmine confirmed that Serenity was not home.
“It’s flu season, so please remind Aunt Rachel to take care of her health,” he said.
Shawn nodded in agreement. “Yes, many people are catching colds. The hospital is crowded too.”
“Well, Jas and Serenity, I’ll be on my way now.”
Shawn didn’t linger; he gazed at Serenity for a moment and smiled at the two women before leaving. He departed less than five minutes after Serenity returned.
Once he was gone, Serenity remarked to her friend, “Shawn has matured a lot.”
Jasmine narrowed her eyes in response.
Amused, Serenity tapped Jasmine’s forehead. “Don’t give me that look! I didn’t love Shawn before, I don’t love him now, and I won’t love him in the future. He will always be like a younger brother to me.”
