Most importantly, Elisa and Remy seemed to get along well.
“I’m responsible for all of FC & Co.’s businesses in Wiltspoon, and I’ll be here for an extended period, essentially settling down. I’ll visit FC Manor occasionally, but I’ll be more of a guest there. My mom often says I treat FC Manor like a hotel since I usually only stay for two nights.”
Elisa nudged her brother under the table. Leaning in, she whispered, “Clive, it’s quite forward of you to keep asking Remy those personal questions. You two aren’t even close.”
Elisa had only gotten to know Remy after encountering him several times.
Clive focused on his sister.
Did she not have any interest in Remy at all?
Clive was attempting to help Elisa gather information in advance.
He remembered how hurt she felt when she pursued Zachary, ultimately becoming the subject of ridicule.
Clive felt sympathy for her and sensed that she had no feelings for Remy. Perhaps it was just Clive’s wishful thinking.
Remy had not revealed his feelings either, so it was likely that Clive was overanalyzing the situation.
After reconsidering, Clive chose to remain silent.
Both men were CEOs of their own companies, and since Remy was closely working with York Corporation, Clive was cautious about discussing business with him.
However, Clive decided to stay until Elisa finished her juice and pastry.
“Elisa, aren’t you supposed to discuss your investment with Serenity today?”
Clive reminded his sister that it was time for her to leave.
Elisa glanced at the time and replied, “Not today. I’ll meet Seren and Jas tomorrow. Clive, you’re busy with work, aren’t you?”
“Yes.”
He was still there simply because he wanted to.
“Protect her,” Clive said.
“If you’re busy, you can continue with your work. I’ll send Remy home,” Elisa replied.
Clive raised an eyebrow. “You’re sending him home, huh?”
At just the right moment, Remy interjected with an awkward smile. “I came here in Elisa’s car.”
Remy’s smile struck Clive as unsettling.
“Mr. Johnson, you can take a cab home, or you can wait here and have your bodyguard and chauffeur pick you up,” Clive suggested.
“Clive, since we’re heading home, we can drop him off on our way. His bodyguard and car are at his new house, which we’ll pass by,” Elisa chimed in.
Clive was momentarily speechless.
Despite his reservations, he watched as his sister drove away with Remy.
‘What is Remy trying to accomplish? Is he interested in Elisa? He smiles like a fox. Even someone experienced like me can’t read him,’ Clive thought, sighing in concern for his sister.
When Elisa was infatuated with Zachary, Clive had repeatedly advised her, feeling anxious the entire time.
Now, with Elisa growing closer to Remy, Clive felt uneasy again. While Remy appeared friendly and gentle, it was unclear whether he was genuinely interested in Elisa.
Clive couldn’t shake his worries.
Elisa currently had no romantic feelings for Remy. As he had stated in response to her question, he appreciated her presence, but that didn’t equate to love. He hadn’t fully understood his feelings yet.
As Remy mentioned, he lacked experience in relationships and wouldn’t act impulsively without clarity.
Furthermore, it seemed the Stones were opposed to Elisa marrying and relocating to Annenberg.
