Chapter 1121
Zachary considered the suggestion before responding, “It seems like a solid plan. The DNA test is the most straightforward method and provides compelling evidence.”
“I’ll arrange for someone to bring him here. You can conduct the DNA test with him, and if Noah isn’t their grandson, you can present the evidence during the trial,” he added.
Serenity interjected, “Um… what if Noah isn’t their grandson?”
Zachary was momentarily speechless.
Both of them felt a sense of confusion.
Eventually, Zachary said, “Just get a DNA test done with your grandfather. I’m sure the old man won’t cooperate. This is where Noah can be useful. He can collect a few strands of hair from your grandfather. The hair follicles need to be intact for the DNA test.”
A DNA test doesn’t always require blood.
Noah was the youngest grandson in the Hunt family. Serenity had playfully roughhoused with him a few times, leading to Noah now holding her in high regard. This presented a great opportunity to enlist his help.
Convinced that Zachary’s plan was feasible, Serenity replied, “We’ll follow your suggestion. We can have Noah pluck a few hairs from my granddad, and I’ll use them for the DNA test. Once we get the results, we’ll know if my dad is their child.”
As the couple chatted, the journey home felt brief.
They soon reached the hilltop villa at Regent Residences.
Mrs. Lane came out to open the gate.
Seeing Mrs. Lane reminded Serenity that it was time to raise her salary. She mentioned this to Zachary, who replied, “You’re the boss at home. Whatever you decide is fine. You can increase Mrs. Lane’s wages without needing my approval.”
“She has helped my sister immensely, which isn’t part of her job description. I feel uncomfortable not compensating her extra for those additional tasks. We manage the household together, and even if you—”
“Don’t make the decision yet; I should inform you about it. The last thing I want is for you to be unaware of what’s happening in the house.”
“Okay. Raise her wages,” Jim replied, turning to look.
Zachary quietly noted, “Your salary has been adjusted several times.”
Greed did not suit Jim well.
Jim chuckled, recalling that he and Mrs. Lane were the first to support the missus, resulting in numerous pay raises and generous bonuses.
Serenity remarked to Jim, “Jack of all trades.”
Initially taken aback, Jim quickly broke into a smile. “Thank you for the compliment, Missus.”
Serenity laughed heartily.
The bodyguard exited the car to open the door for the couple. Zachary got out first, extending his hand to assist Serenity.
Wearing an elegant evening gown and stunning stilettos, Serenity carefully stepped out to avoid twisting her ankle. She was also still holding the bouquet Zachary had given her.
“Sir, Missus,” Sam suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
Along with Mrs. Lane, he greeted the couple respectfully.
“Sam, Mrs. Lane,” Serenity responded with a smile, while Zachary offered a quick hello and led her into the house.
As Sam prepared to follow them, Mrs. Lane stopped him, whispering, “Are you sure you want to be the third wheel?”
