Chapter 1112
Serenity smiled and said, “I know, I know. I’m the luckiest woman alive. I will count my blessings. I mean, I do count my blessings.”
Her best friends and family had been easily swayed by Zachary, who always spoke highly of him.
After all, Zachary treated Serenity well.
“I’m not sure what to get him,” Serenity said, furrowing her brows.
Her two best friends felt that Serenity was tormenting them by flaunting her relationship.
However, Jasmine was less affected since Josh treated her well too. On the other hand, Elisa, who was single, felt envious and jealous.
“Zachary had everything except a wife, but that’s resolved now that you’re married to him. He needs children in his life. Hurry up and have babies—preferably twins, a girl and a boy.”
Thinking of the adorable Sonny, Elisa added, “You can have as many children as you want if they are as cute and smart as Sonny. Zachary can afford to raise them, after all.”
“Seren, do you have any good news? I want to be the first to know if you do. I want to prepare gifts for my future niece or nephew.”
Jasmine teased, “Seren would tell Mr. York first if she’s pregnant. Don’t compete with him for the number one spot; he might get jealous and prevent Seren from spending time with you.”
Elisa chimed in happily, “I used to be scared of Zachary, but now he’s scared of me. Remember, I’m the older cousin! Hahaha! It makes me happy to think that Zachary is ranked below me in the family hierarchy.”
Serenity replied bluntly, “It’s more like you scare him off.”
Elisa was left speechless.
“My Aunt Flo just finished her monthly visit, so there’s no news of a pregnancy. I want a girl and a boy too. I believe Mr. Remy Johnson’s sister-in-law is having twins; her due date is…
“is just around the corner.” Serenity had heard this from Zachary, who expressed envy when discussing Ben and his wife expecting twins. Serenity knew very little about the wealthiest family in Anneburg, with only Remy being someone she knew slightly better.
As Elisa spoke, Serenity’s attention was focused on her. Not reading much into the situation, Elisa smiled and said, “Renovations on Mr. Johnson’s house have started. He often stops by to check on the progress. If I see him, I’d invite him for tea. I also heard that his sister-in-law is expecting twins; apparently, his other sister-in-law also had twin boys.”
“The Johnsons are like the Yorks; their family seems to be blessed with only sons.” Elisa then added, “Seren, if you give birth to a daughter, you’ll be a hero in the York family. They’ve been hoping for a girl for years.”
While the Johnsons mostly had sons, only Ben’s generation lacked a girl, since his father had a sister. The York family hadn’t had a girl for generations.
With a grin, Serenity replied, “The pressure is always on women to have sons, but I’m under pressure to have a daughter. Nana has been nagging me about having a great-granddaughter and promised a handsome reward for giving birth to a girl.”
“Grandma May mentioned that the push present for a boy is fifty million, while it’s five hundred million for a girl. I’ve heard about it before. All of Grandma May’s daughters-in-law have had three sons each, and she still hasn’t gotten her wish; the five hundred million dollars remains unclaimed.”
Elisa maintained her gaze on her cousin as she spoke, making her message clear.
