Josh smiled and said, “You’re not the Zachary I used to know. I can’t believe you said that to Mr. Moe.”
“Seren was stopped in the middle of the road, and her car was wrecked on her way home,” Zachary replied.
Josh’s curiosity piqued. “Who would be foolish enough to block her car? I bet that person is in the hospital right now.”
Zachary found himself torn between tears and laughter.
“I’ll have someone look into it right away.”
“It’s alright. I already know who did it.”
“Who?” Josh asked, intrigued. He loved gossip and his imagination ran wild. “Was it one of your admirers?”
Zachary responded, “Actually, it was yours.” He added, a bit annoyed, “It’s Ms. Carrie from the Newman family.”
It didn’t take long for Josh to realize who Zachary meant. “Ms. Carrie must have it out for Seren. Mr. Newman just apologized recently, and now his precious daughter is causing trouble again.”
“Was she arrested?”
“We called the police on her. She’s been detained since we have evidence. Josh, I need a favor from you. I need someone keeping an eye on the Newmans and Seren’s relatives.”
Josh quickly understood. “Are you worried that Mr. Newman might seek revenge?”
“It’s better to be prepared. Ms. Carrie is the apple of the Newmans’ eye. They’ve spoiled her completely. There’s no telling if they’ll come after Serenity now that their daughter is detained. At least we’ll know what to expect if we stay vigilant.”
Acknowledging that his best friend had a valid point, Josh agreed, “Alright. I’ll ensure I have people watching the movements of both families.”
