Married at First Sight Chapter 1086

“They will definitely come and ask us for help,” Zachary predicted.
Serenity chuckled sarcastically.
Zachary was as unyielding as a brick wall. What could he do if his cousins sought his assistance? He was likely only capable of offering taunts and terrible suggestions.
“You don’t believe me, babe.”
“Not at all.”
Zachary looked deep into her eyes and said, “We’ll just have to wait and see. When they’re in trouble, they’ll turn to me as the senior male figure in the family. Even if I can’t offer practical help, I can always lend an ear.”
Given that Zachary’s cousins held him in the highest regard, Serenity felt confident in his prediction.
“Did Ms. Carrie have a disagreement with you?”
Serenity mentioned running into Carrie and the conflict between the sisters, but she didn’t elaborate on what transpired between her and Carrie.
Sure, Carrie could be arrogant, but Serenity would always know how to put her in her place.
Since he asked, Serenity decided to be honest with Zachary about Carrie’s haughty behavior. She didn’t want to give him another reason to complain about her keeping secrets as if he weren’t family.
Zachary grimaced as he stood up and walked away.
He soon returned, placing the car keys to his Rolls Royce in Serenity’s hand. With a commanding tone, he said, “Take this car, Seren. Let’s see if Ms. Carrie dares to call your ride junk again. How dare she threaten to damage your car?”
Mr. Newman had personally come to apologize on behalf of his wife and daughter, yet it seemed Ms. Carrie had not learned her lesson. She still had the audacity to hold a grudge against Serenity!
“You can’t lower yourself to a crazy person’s level and act out with them.”
Serenity returned the car keys to him. “I love driving my pile of junk.”
“Seren.”

Zachary exclaimed, “I can’t stand people looking down on you.”

“A car won’t change how people perceive me. Even if I drive a Rolls Royce, they’ll just call me a gold digger and say I owe it all to you. They’ll continue to look down on me.”

The only way for her to stop being belittled was to rely on her own strength.

Zachary was left speechless.

Pulling Serenity into his arms, he lovingly yet helplessly said, “You’re stubborn, you know that, Seren? You really test my patience sometimes.”

Serenity wrapped her arms around his strong waist and smiled, “That’s just who I am. You can’t change me. Just bear with me.”

“I will always put up with you.”

The couple shared a lingering embrace until Serenity gently nudged him away. “Are you full? I need to tidy up and get back to the shop.”

Zachary mumbled something reluctantly under his breath. This time, Serenity caught his words; he was complaining about Josh skipping the business meeting for a date with his girlfriend.

Caught between tears and laughter, Serenity replied, “Remember the times you left work in Mr. Bucham’s hands to spend time with me? You should at least give Mr. Bucham and Jasmine some time to go on a date.”

Zachary pursed his lips, saying nothing further.

Serenity finished packing and rewarded her husband with a passionate kiss. After pulling away, she said, “I’ll wait for you at home. Please don’t drink too much—or better yet, don’t drink at all.”

“I’ll tell the clients that my wife won’t let me drink. If I have even a drop of alcohol, I’ll have to sleep in the study. I bet they’ll stop me from drinking too.”

Serenity was left speechless.
