I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 91

Chapter 91

Vivian was speechless. She was about to press her floor when she noticed the light was already

She paused. “Mr. Howard, are you staying on the 32nd floor too?”

Kingston didn’t answer.

“What a coincidence.” Her voice came out a little awkward.

If he wasn’t going to respond, she didn’t have the energy to keep trying.

She honestly didn’t understand people who could pull the silent treatment. How did they manage not to say a single word?

It would take a bit for the elevator to reach the 32nd floor. In the cramped space, it was only the two of them. The silence was so heavy that Vivian felt like she could hear her own

breathing.

They couldn’t keep this standoff going, whether it was between Kingston and Camille, or between Hartwell Group and the Howard Group.

“Mr. Howard…” Vivian said softly, breaking the silence.

Kingston turned his gaze to her.

Vivian smiled. He hadn’t ignored her completely. At least he was looking at her now.

“Actually, when Camille called earlier, she didn’t say anything. If you want to know how she’s doing, after I go back to Durmont, I can-”

Before she could finish, Kingston cut her off. “Who said I wanted to know about her?”

So, he was still acting tough. If he really didn’t want to know, he should’ve stayed silent like he had earlier.

His reaction was exactly what Vivian expected.

She went on,

“Camille has always been strong. Grandpa chose her as the heiress over my dad, so she’s been under more pressure than most women. That toughness is just her armor.”

Kingston watched her with a flat expression, giving nothing away.

Vivian kept smiling at him and decided to offer a small piece of advice for their situation.

“Camille isn’t looking for someone who goes head–to–head with her. She needs someone

more considerate, someone who can make her feel cared for. If a man truly loves a woman, he shouldn’t keep waiting for her to back down and turn everything into a standoff.”

Kingston was smart. After hearing that, he should’ve at least considered changing his approach.

But he didn’t react the way she expected. He just looked at her, his eyes dark and unreadable.

“You should save that speech for the men who want to pursue Camille.”

Vivian was speechless.

He was so stubborn.

“Aren’t you one of them?” she asked, lifting her eyes to meet his deep gaze.

Kingston looked at her. “No.”

Vivian’s brows lifted slightly as she studied his expression.

Right then, the elevator doors opened.

Kingston looked past her and walked out, leaving nothing for her to read.

Vivian followed him out. Looking at his back, she sighed and said, “None of you are as brave as

me.”

The man ahead stopped abruptly and turned around.

Vivian paused, then met his eyes anyway, bold as ever.

“Am I wrong?”

Kingston held her gaze. A faint, cold smile curved at his lips. His eyes were calm, and his voice was low and even. “Sometimes, I honestly can’t tell if you’re smart or stupid.”

Vivian was left speechless.

He was taking digs at her again.
