I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 86
Chapter 86
Vivian’s waist was slim and soft, and the faint, clean scent on her skin was enough to stir Kingston’s head.
Kingston’s eyes darkened. His palm tightened slightly, then he let go
like a gentleman.
Vivian could still feel the heat of where he’d caught her. With her nerves feeding into it, she bit her lip and felt her cheeks and the tips of her ears burn even hotter.
She didn’t dare look up at him, afraid she’d fall into those dark eyes.
“Thanks,” she said, her voice soft and a little hoarse.
Kingston looked down at her, his voice low. “Are the murals really that captivating?”
Vivian’s mind drifted. She nodded on instinct, then realized what she’d done and shook her
head hard.
He was setting her up.
Why would she like staring at things that made her blush?
It wasn’t that she liked it. The decor here was just too brazen, with that kind of body art
everywhere, leaving her no way to look away.
Kingston glanced at her, a playful smile tugging at his lips. “I didn’t know you had such particular tastes.”
Vivian denied it immediately. “I don’t.”
Kingston chuckled. “If you don’t, how did you stare so hard you didn’t even notice the steps?”
Vivian gave him an awkward smile, thin and a little strained. “It was an accident.”
Kingston lowered his head and leaned in, his brow arching with a knowing glint. “Once might be an accident. But twice?”
Vivian fell silent.
If it wasn’t an accident, then what was it?
She looked up and caught the teasing in Kingston’s eyes, and it clicked.
“Mr. Howard-”
Kingston cut her off. “Next time you want an ‘accident‘ where you throw yourself into my

arms, watch your timing and your location. In a place like this, things can go wrong.”
He stressed the words “go wrong.
Vivian flushed and took a step back to put distance between them.
That step kicked the edge of the stair behind her heel. She lost her balance and tipped
backward.
Kingston reached out and caught her by the waist, steadying her before she could fall.
Vivian felt like her heart skipped a beat. She quickly straightened and pulled away.
“It really was an-

She didn’t finish before she met Kingston’s eyes again. There was a faint amusement in his eyes, and his knowing smile made every explanation she had feel weak and pointless.
“It was an accident. I get it,” he said with a faint smile, his eyes gleaming. His whole demeanor carried a relaxed, roguish charm.
Vivian was speechless. She had to admit it. She had no comeback.
No matter what she said, she couldn’t make him believe her.
Vivian found herself at a loss for words. He’d basically pinned a “pervert” label on her, and strangely enough, she wasn’t even that angry.
After all, enjoying beauty in its purest form was only human nature.
But she didn’t have any improper thoughts about Kingston.
Vivian wasn’t clueless. She could see the sharp edge he kept hidden beneath his calm, effortless manner.
After thinking it over these past few days, she’d come to one clear conclusion.
In this world, nothing was simpler than a relationship built on shared interests.
Seven years ago, she’d already known she wasn’t good enough for him.
Even now, she still had the sense to know her place.
If she wanted Hartwell Group to build a stable, cooperative relationship with the Howard Group, she needed to make her stance clear.
