I Cancel the Engagement and Level Way Up 69

Chapter 69

Vivian smiled at him. “If I hadn’t come, how else would I have heard my fiance asking his friend how to teach me a lesson?”

Logan frowned. No matter how much Vivian embarrassed him in front of business partners, he could tolerate it. But in front of these people, he refused to let her step all over his pride.

A flicker of frustration crossed his eyes. “That’s not what I meant. There’s a

misunderstanding. I’ll explain everything when we get back. Let me take you home first,” he said softly.

Vivian smirked. “Why are you in such a rush? Mr. Carter hasn’t even shared his brilliant idea yet.”

Zane swallowed hard and forced a grin. “Vivian, I was just running my mouth. I’ll slap myself if you want.”

Vivian casually grabbed a glass from the service counter and hurled it at him.

Zane was caught completely off guard. The glass hit him near the eye.

“Ouch,” he yelped, clutching his face.

The glass shattered on the floor with a sharp crash. No one in the room dared to breathe.

Logan’s chest heaved as he took a deep breath. “Zane has already admitted he was wrong, and you…”

Before he could finish, Vivian raised her hand and slapped him across the face.

The room fell dead silent.

Logan tilted his head slightly, staring at her with simmering rage.

Stella rushed forward and pulled Vivian back, terrified that Logan might lose control and strike her in his anger. The difference in strength between men and women was no joke. If things turned physical, they would be the ones paying the price.

Someone in the room hurried over to restrain Logan. The two of them were separated, and someone closed the private room door, cutting Vivian and Logan off from each other.

Stella finally let out a long breath and patted her chest. “That scared me to death. Ms. Hartwell, you really shouldn’t have been so impulsive. There were so many big guys in that room. It was only the two of us. Even if I had swung my heels until they were smoking, I still

wouldn’t have stood a chance against that many guys.”

Vivian couldn’t help but laugh at the image Stella had painted. Her anger subsided. “Sorry about that. I almost pulled you into this with me.”

When she had heard Logan asking Zane how to teach her a lesson, anger had completely overridden her reason. Perhaps it was because she had never imagined that Logan would turn against her like that.

Zane was exactly the kind of man who played dirty, and Logan had actually gone to him for advice.

That alone had completely rewritten Vivian’s understanding of him.

For a brief moment, she had truly felt like burning it all down. Seven years of her life had been wasted. Thankfully, she had glimpsed his true nature before the wedding. With no children and no real ties, she still had the chance to walk away.

Stella wasn’t in the mood to stay at the restaurant. She also worried that Logan and his group might get reckless after a few drinks, so she suggested they switch to another place.

Vivian agreed, saying she hadn’t grabbed fast food in ages and was suddenly craving barbecue from a street cart. Stella was more than happy to join her.

Vivian rarely drank, but that night, she genuinely felt like having a few glasses.

After a couple of drinks, the conversation began to flow more freely.

Stella asked what Vivian planned to do next.

Vivian shook her head, keeping her plans to herself.

Stella sighed softly. She knew how hard it was to let go of a seven–year relationship, especially when Whitfield Group had been built by the two of them together.

Somehow, the topic shifted to Kingston. “Ms. Hartwell, you seem pretty close to Mr. Howard. Have you known him for a long time?”

Stella had always been curious. Both Vivian and Logan came from modest backgrounds, so how had Vivian met someone like Kingston, born into privilege? How had she managed to secure his investment so quickly?

Vivian nodded. “We have known each other for a long time.”

Thinking about how dating Logan had left a stain she would carry for life, her mood instantly sank. “Life really doesn’t give me a break. He picked the perfect moment to watch me make a fool of myself. With a mouth that sharp, I’m probably going to be mocked by him for a long
